I've upgraded to macOS High Sierra (MacBook Pro with 13" Retina, early 2015) and I tag excel files that I use often. Since I've upgraded to the High Sierra whenever I open a file, that is tagged, and then I save that file the Finder tag disappears. I have deleted and created new tags since the upgrade and this still happens. The file itself doesn't lose and data but only the Finder Tag is missing.

On the document whose tag disappears, what process do you use to set the tag initially? Finder? MS Office application? Custom tag application? Setting the tag from the Terminal using xattr command?
I always use Finder to tag may documents and folders 🙂
Anyone find a resolution yet? I've done everything that I can possibly think of. Even installing MSFT Office developer build didnt fix the issue.
Office was updated this morning, seems to have solved the issue.. For now.
I just upgraded the other day and am having the same problem with Word docs in Dropbox through Finder. Sounds like no one has figured this out yet.
Is your MSFT Office up to date? The most recent update solved the issue for me on all my computers.
I'm still using 2011, but according to a number of people, installing 2016 did not help.
I can confirm on 5 computers that the most recent 2016 update did solve the issue. Each of the 5 lost tags after saving every single time. Now they never do.
Ok. Thanks for that feedback. I guess it's time to bite the bullet and upgrade. 😟

This is frustrating as ***** for business users.
I have the same experience after upgrading to macOS High Sierra (10.13.2), with MS Office 11 (14.7.3). Very irritating. Need a solution.
