iphone 8 poor/sensitive mic during call

Just got a new iPhone 8 (updated to ios 11.0.2) upgraded from iPhone 6. When making a call if not talking directly into the mic the person on the other end cannot hear me (or my voice volume is drastically lower). This occurs when even slightly moving the phone away from my mouth or rotating the phone slightly up or down. My father has the same problem with his iPhone 8, even returned it and got a new one, same problem. Switching to speaker phone solves the problem. Also noting it does not happen all the time and a hard reset can fix it for a bit but then it goes back to the bad behavior.

Has anyone else experienced this?

iPhone 8, iOS 11.0.2

EXACT same issue with my iPhone 8 Plus. It's not as though the mic CANNOT work, because when I switch to speaker phone, I can be a good distance away from the phone and people still hear me. But, when speaker phone is off, my mouth has to be RIGHT next to the speaker. Even the slightest tilt of the phone away from my face makes me unable to be heard, even when speaking loudly. Very frustrating!

I regret ever buying my iPhone 8. Less than six months after doing so if I was to sell it I’d lose around £300 if I did so. This to me says all you need to know.

This is a colossal mess. I have lost so much business. I already switched out my iphone X once. I have 3 small children. I’m run my own business and am really suffering.

People in the other end constantly ask me to speak louder or complain that they can’t hear me.

Put your Iphone 8 in Speaker mode, the other end can hear you fine now. The software chooses the wrong microphones when making a normal call.

HI, I've the same issue on my phone on VoIP apps - I've updated to 11.3. I tried with deactivating the noise cancellation but still have the same issue. Did you manage to resolve the issue ?

no , i'm still trying to find a way to fix it , the only walk-around for now is to use an earphone

I've a support ticket open with Apple - let me try and see if they are able to resolve this issue. So far the troubleshooting hasn't been useful.

I have exactly the same issues. It gets better when switching to speaker or using a headphone.

I have the same problem with my new Iphone 8 😭. And there is no solition yet? First time that I get this dosappointed of Apple... Not worth the money..

No solution yet , hopefully iOS 12 will fix that , the 1st beta will come in a month , just use an earphone until then
