iOS11 notifications disappearing from lock screen

The same thing happens to me, but when I look in the app there are no new messages. It’s almost like the notifications come before the actual text. (Even though the text never actually comes)

I’m having the same issue, if I don’t swipe into the message notification, and instead leave it sitting there, it just disappears. It leaves the little “1” on the messages app, but no push notification anywhere. It's driving me crazy. I've tried everything, from uninstalling specific apps, to turning off my Apple watch, to completely resetting my phone and set it up as new. Nothing works! I've turned off "show in history" for now, as this thread says... hopefully that does something. iPhone 8, iOS 11.0.3. I hope this is fixed soon!

Same thing here for an iPhone 8 Plus. Mine has something to do with the native mail app and the use of the phone and charging. As long as I don't use it as a phone, don't charge my device and don't check the native mail app, they will stay on the lock screen and history. As soon as I do either of these activities, they vanish. Only text notifications, nothing else. All other notifications, except i message, work fine. Have swapped phones, done a soft reset, done a hard reset, reset network settings and nothing works. Started day one when I got the new phone. I have been in direct contact with an Apple tech for about a month and a half. Sent all the logs as it was happening and they still can't figure it out. ios11 is by far the worst "upgrade" to ever be released.

They stay on the screen until you use your phone/unlock your phone. They’re not kept in the notification centre after because show in history is off, and that’s what that feature does. But at least hey stay on your lock screen until you’ve seen them.

This is the exact thing I experience. While I fully sympathize with you, this forum is not monitored by Apple. You should definitely take your phone in to the Genius Bar if the problem is impacting your business. One other person in this thread found success with a replacement phone. You should request another handset and see if that helps. Best of luck!

Temporary/Persistent settings refer to banner notifications, not lock screen notifications.

Apple should *not* recommend this as a solution. I'm also experiencing the same behavior on my iPhone X, iOS 11.2.6. I get the badge notifications, but notifications inconsistently disappear from the lock screen or are simply not displayed.

- DND is turned off

- DND is not scheduled to turn on

- DND while driving is turned off

- Notifications > Show Previews is set to Always

- Notifications > *application* > Show on Lock Screen is turned on

- Notifications > *application* > Show Previews is set to When Unlocked

This has happened to me frequently enough to believe there is definitely an issue with notifications not appearing on the lock screen when they should. It's not something I've been able to consistently reproduce.

Just spent 52 minutes on the phone & the rep is going to get back to me on Friday. He was very patient & seemed to be trying his best as I had been in the store this week for 2 hours & on the phone w/ them 3 other times. We have tried a number of things & I already did a restore & he did say we may have to do it again but maybe don't follow that up w/ a back up from iCloud...I will keep folks posted. I might add that more folks should sched a time w/ support ( they are very good about calling right on time ..maybe just a few minutes after sched time) & then they will be more aware of the issue...( I sched on line thru Apple.com)

Turning off history worked for me but only for three days. I have a Genius Bar reservation but I know they’ll just wipe my phone. Again. So frustrating.

Uhhh I’m so glad I’ve come across this post after searching on google as me and my hubby have the same problem!! It’s really annoying!!! 😩 hope they get it fixed!!

This has been an issue since iOS 10 came out and it’s still broken.

Same here. Very annoying. I’m missing customer messages. Trying turning “show in history” off. This is a new problem. Never happened before.

iMessages may be stored in the cloud, but I somehow doubt your text messages will be. It would be nice though.

While I'm wishing, I'd love for an iMessage client for Windows. 😀
