Why does bluetooth keep turning on with iOS 11

Why does bluetooth keep turning itself on now I've upgraded to iOS 11, it was fine with iOS 10 but it is now constantly turning itself on and I keep having to go back and switch it off.

This is extremely frustrating.

iPhone, iOS 11.0.2

This is super annoying. It is an on/off button. Not a “disconnect” button. How stupid is that? If you’re going to invent a new button, then invent a new icon that clearly differentiates from what any numbskull (except Apple Engineers) knows is a Bluetooth on/off button. Apple, you‘ve strayed into to the deep end of the fairyland pool this time.

I was also looking for a constructive answer to the same question, which incidentally is about Bluetooth not WiFi.

The answer is the same regardless of whether your asking about BT or WiFi. And here it is:

You can't turn WiFi or BT off from the Control Center. You turn them off by going to Settings>WiFi or Settings>BT. Or by asking Siri to do it for you. Once you turn them off in settings, they will stay turned off until you turn them back on. If they don't, there's something wrong with your phone.

...Except if Bluetooth is on, it greedily grabs onto networks and bluetooth devices that come near.

As if you never need to use them with other devices or don't want your device exchanging packets with unknown devices or need to force it to be quiet while you're trying to do something else.

I'm not going to carry a headset for my phone, computer, tablet all separately, for instance. And I can toggle it back on if I want to use the pen.

I'm sorry, but that's not true. It might help you to know Bluetooth can never connect to a network and it can only connect to a device if you've previously paired a device to your phone. Thus, it's not possible for Bluetooth to just GRAB onto networks or devices.

No disrespect, but you not having the problem does not mean it doesn’t exist. I’m having the same problem. And yes, it is happening despite turning bluetooth off in settings, as opposed to control panel. I don’t understand why people in these threads feel the need to treat others as if they’re stupid by default. Most who are smart enough to navigate to the online support community have at least a basic level of tech savvy, so have a little respect.

It is not a defective phone. There are a lot of people that have this problem. It is Apple’s software updates. Just because you do not have this problem you can’t say it is our broken phones. Add this problem to Apple lawsuits.

Yes it is defective. But if you just want to moan about it, knock yourself out. Or do something to help yourself and take it to your Apple Store. The choice is yours. Good luck with that Lawsuit, btw - LOLOLOL

No offense, but I find it amusing when someone channels Steve Jobs. Steve was amazing in so many ways and the world so greatly blessed by the things he did for technology as a whole and Apple specifically. But he was no Saint and under his leadership there were many blunders, far worse than having to get used to a new way to control Wifi and Bluetooth. You don't remember these now famous words, heard throughout the world? [Antenna-gate] "You're holding it wrong!" The Apple 1 and II computer sold in the hundreds and were total, utter failures. NeXt Computer? A total failure. Steve was not immune to problems, but this issue with Wifi and Bluetooth is not a problem. It's simply a new way to do something that for many offers more flexibility and control.
