IOS11.0.2 Whatsapp Notification Delay

Hi

Since Upgrading to IOS 11.0.2 WhatsApp notifications have been delayed and only appearing when I open WhatsApp.

I have tried resetting network settings, backing up and resetting the handset and switching off and on - seems like a bug.

Please help!

Regards

Junaid

Even though my issue was slightly different, i wasnt getting the contact name in the banner, so had no idea who message was from til i opened it. I followed the same instructions as sent to you. it worked for me and now have my contacts name in the banner on the home screen. Anything is worth a try, i didnt think for one minute that it would work, i followed instructions word for word as i didnt fancy losing all my info, which was my main main worry.

your problem is different from ours. Many of us have the same symptoms. We do not receive notifications of new messages at all. we have to open the app. It is a problem with the "apple push notifications" It is strange that it is for example with facebook messenger, I receive my messages but can not answer it via the app, I must also open the application for my message to be sent. The worst is that the last beta of IOS11.1 is out and it corrects none of the problems ...

Argh!! 😤Yes, just noticed that after you mentioned it. When my screen was locked, I didn’t receive a notification at all! In fact, there was nothing in the notification centre. Even the badge doesn’t show there’s a new message.

I had to open Whatsapp to see the message. This is really getting annoying now.

I do not want to activate app refresh. It has always worked without it. Hope next update will fix it because it is really annoying and it is definitely an ios issue. What I noticed it is that on my iPhone 8 Plus it is not working only with wi-fi, with cellular data everything is ok.

What I think is that the "played" too much with this wi-fi stand by etc functions in ios 11.

I was experiencing the same problem with my i7+, specially in group chats. I would receive the messages/notifications 15-20 seconds after my wife's i7.

iOS 11.1 did not resolve the issue.

I may have found a solution, go to settings, WhatsApp > Siri & Search and ensure that 'Use with Siri' is checked.

I shared this with a friend who had similar issues and this appeared to have been resolved.

I trust the above helps.

Based on what you wrote, I've just tried disabling and re-enabling "Use with Siri" and I saw the option wasn't available. Yesterday I tried sending a message through Siri and it had weirdly asked me to be granted access to WhatsApp. And so now I disabled the Search with Siri or such setting, re-enabled it and Use with Siri showed as an option (which I also toggled on and off). It apparently did not fix the issue...

It seems that the app gets killed very quickly in the background when you use an "intensive" app (for my dying iPhone 6, the camera is already too intense...). This shouldn't disturb background app refresh though so I don't really understand what's the cause...

I tried this and it worked!!

If the Do Not Disturb is enabled, calls and alters will be prevented while the screen is locked. You can go to Settings > find Do Not Disturb and turn it off.

So silly...but that was it. Now I am getting all of my notifications and working well. It appears that the ios 11 upgrade for some reason turned this feature to on

Try it...hope it helps.

This is regarding WhatsApp VoIP calling failure.

Alright guys, I am experiencing the same issue and went to Multiple Verizon stores where I purchased the new iPhone X and no one could help. I asked to replace the phone and they told me that it wasn’t the phone at fault and contact WhatsApp, after me explaining that the calling voip works with the older iPhone 6s and just doesn’t work with this iPhone X. They were dumb founded.

It is very frustrating when you purchase a high end and very expensive device and the retailers can’t and won’t help you with your issue.

Alright after I have let out my frustrations.. now if you are still reading this.. we finally figured out what fixed this issue for us.

Please let me know if this works for you. Follow the steps below:

1. Close whatsapp app

2. Turn off Hearing Aid Compatibility by following below steps

-Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Turn Aid Compatibility

Thanks
