I have been having this issue for months now and it was getting out of hand. I paired and unpaired and removed apps..no luck. However I noticed something that happened..I joined an open network at Starbucks (their network) the previous night . The next morning it restarted about 8 Times in one hour. Reset all of the network settings on the phone and it hasn’t rebooted since. Hope this helps someone.

Folks,
Latest updated - 4th March 2018:
Apple Watch Series 3 + Cellular (Cellular not activated in my country).
How I solved it:
- Disable all 3rd party apps notification.Leave apple original apps with thier notifications settings ON. But all other non Apple applications - disable their notification one by one. You do not need to completely turn off the entire notifications in the watch.
- Hard reboot the watch - Power button + crown until apple logo shows up then leave the buttons.
- I tested this for 24 Hours - no reboots.
- As I heavily use twitter and I must get twitter updates to my Watch - I enabled ONLY the twitter notifications.
- So far over 48 Hours no reboot. All other apps I use have their notification OFF, as I really need only twitter.
I hope someone at apple is reading this - there is clearly some kind of bugs with notifications with the Apple Series 3 watches and notifications with certain apps.
Hi
Whilst I can't say why that is happening, the following steps may help to prevent the issue from recurring:
If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone to the latest software:
Restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch, turning both off together, then restarting your iPhone first:
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support
- If the issue recurs, close open apps on your iPhone and then restart both devices again.
Unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:
- The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app.
- Initially choose to Restore from Backup during set up (most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions, such as Apple Pay cards, passcode).
- If the issue persists, consider instead unpairing and setting it up as a new watch.
- Unpair your Apple Watch and iPhone - Apple Support
- Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support
If the issue persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider with a view to having your watch checked and, if recommended, serviced:
OK i am on my 3rd apple watch because it has been restatrting without cause. I think I have figured this out ... not the watches problem....it is push notifications from the phones apps to the watch when people reply.... ie facebook, or other apps when people reply/respond. Since I turned off the notifications, it has NOT restarted. ALSO the auto reboots never required my 4 digit pass code. When I removed all the apps that allowed a reply and restarted my watch where my code was required...it has not restarted... thank you GOD

With the latest Apple Watch software upgrade, this problem seems to have resolved. No more reboots in the ICU. Thank you Apple
I have this same problem. In fact, both myself and co-worker are having same issue. I have the Nike+ GPS watch, co-worker has GPS+Cellular version.
Notice the restarting only while at work (in a hospital). While at the hospital, restarts randomly and throughout the day. At least 1x/hour. T
ried all prev mentioned solutions (unpair, repair, reset to new, uninstall all apps). Also had same bug on v4 and the update 4.1. I'm using iPhone SE, coworker is on iPhone X.
Since co-worker having same issue, we think its a software bug. Also, since we both notice it only at work, we think it's likely related to the enterprise WiFi here with restricted logins. I have no connectivity issues with other devices (laptops, phones). Furthermore, coworker with Series 1 does *not* experience the random reboots.
Went through diagnostics with Apple Chat tech support yesterday, they said no hardware issue on my end. So their current solution was airplane mode and then re-run diags with Apple support later.
Exact same problem and it occurs in just one hospital. Series 3 watch. It does not happen with my series 0 watch. No problems with other hospitals and locations. Perhaps it is related to cardiac telemetry monitors. Perhaps it is related to the wifi at that location which repeatedly requires agreeing to the terms.
Thanks Jonathan for looking this up. I looked up the iPhone's Important safety information, and it looks to be almost identical sans the bit about chargers, so it shouldn't be an issue since iPhones and watches have been allowed on the floor for a while.
It sounds like it doesn't matter the brand of telemetry in the unit. Affecting units with both Phillips and GE brands.
Dug into logs on the phone and kept seeing a version of this on days it was used in the ICU:

Any thoughts here? At first glance appears to be the wifi chip causing issues.
I've got the same issue. Cleveland Clinic Cardiac-ICU with a Series 3 watch + cellular. When I'm away from the hospital, no issues. I'm still seeing reboots on Airplane mode but not as bad. In fact, It rebooted while I'm replying. Partner has a new series 3 + Cellular watch as well and its doing the same thing. I've even tried turning off his phone without luck. Updated to the 4.2 software did not resolve the issue. This area has the Heart Monitors and enterprise Wi-Fi that constantly requires constant agree to terms and conditions.
Just wanted to add. I’m a nurse as well working in a hospital setting. I received my Apple Watch Series 3 for Christmas. Since I have started using it. It has been rebooting itself randomly. I have tried rebooting my phone and the watch. I have also tried un-pairing and re-pairing my watch. I also have tried erasing my watch and setting up as new twice. The issue keeps reoccurring. However other coworkers on my unit are not having this issue with their series 3. So Apple is replacing mine. Hoping it works.
I also work in the CCF CVICU, my watch continues turning off and going back to the Apple screen repeatedly until it drains the battery and dies. I have heard of this same issue from other employees with the series 3, while the earlier series have no issues. My watch works perfectly fine everywhere else. I took my watch to the Apple store and they claim they have not heard of this issue, and that they cannot help me unless I can recreate the issue. My watch has never done this outside of the ICU. They have scheduled a phone call from tech support while I am at work to try speak with me while my watch is having the issue. The problem is, working in an ICU, it may not be possible for me to answer my phone at this exact scheduled time, and spend time fixing the issue. I am wondering if anyone with this issue has found a fix yet? Thank you.
The official one. I went 13 hours today without a reboot. It always reboots 8-10 times per day everyday i work since buying the watch. Hopefully just not a coincidense
update 2/5/18
i have gone 4 full work days in the icu without a crash and restart. I hope everyone with problem is having the same luck after the most recent SW update.
I can also confirm this my Apple Watch 3 GPS+Cellular has been randomly restarting every time I go to visit my sick father in a hospital. I have too reset my watch when I get home as to continues to restart randomly at home. It seems to be working again after the watch is reset, I haven't had any restarts for the last 3 hours.
My wife has been experiencing the same thing at the hospital when working in the ICU. Reboots an average of once an hour. Unfortunate since we got it specifically so she didn't have to pull out her phone at work.
We tried the suggested steps to no avail. We took it in last week and Apple gave her a new watch. Same issues as before.
I called Apple today and was told that if the issue persisted we could get a refund, even though we're past the normal return window. Unless Apple acknowledges the issue soon, we may need to return it and wait until it's fixed to repurchase.
Apple Watch Series 3 keeps restarting
