Safari password autofill not working in ios 11

Hi, The support tech I was chatting with went to his second tier support and learned "Autofill changed with the iOS 11.3 update, it no longer automatically fills, it has the option to add the details." That's when I messed with it and found if you click into the ID or PW field, the keyboard will show and to the top left of the keyboard display it will say "Password". Click that and it will give you a drop down of user-id's for that web-site. Select the one you want and it populates ID/PW then as always.

It appears to be the new way.

For me this problem turned out to be because I was using a keyboard case from apple so the password/login prompt never appears. If I disconnect from the keyboard/case it all works fine. APPLE this is clearly a bug. Password/login prompt should appear whether you are using built-in or external keyboard.

They removed the automatic auto fill from 11.3 now you have to manually click on the username or password field and select the password or username above the keyboard or click passwords to the left hand side of the keyboard and choose the password then it will auto fill

Open safari, and at top R corner of browser bar you see two overlapping squares. Click on them. Also in top R corner, if ”private” box is highlighted, click on it. It worked for me.

I am unsure of how this happened to me , MOST LIKELY ICLOUD. But the answer ,(For me) ,was to open contacts and select myself , then in the toolbar select CARD _ MAKE THIS MY DEFAULT CONTACT , somehow SIRI changed it to a blank me. At least thats what the contact stated ("Found by Siri") .

Go to:

->Settings

->General

->Keyboards

Enable 'Shortcuts' (if this doesn't work, turn ON all keyboard settings)

Now tap username/password field on website and you'll see top of a keyboard your username for this site, or 'password' text on iPhone, select that and you are good to go.

I’d been having the same issue, with no workaround. I basically spent hours putting my iPad through a technological elimination diet, reset all my settings (all at once, then one by one), and finally came to realize that the only way to make autofill function properly again was to turn JavaScript back on. I’d had it off for streamlined surfing and security reasons, but nothing seems to work without it after the latest iOS updates. Serious bummer.

I just noticed that the link to id and pw shows up on bar above keyboard.....it's a new feature. Just updated to 11.3 and didn't see it. You click the I'd and password auto fills.

Yeah you have to manually fill them now by clicking the field and the selecting the right login details. It was because some websites were trying to get people’s login by using fake password fields

Yes I too contacted Apple about this and got the same answer and saw it written on it’s. iOS 11.3 release notes. I also checked with Rene Ritchie of imore and he said it was purely down to privacy and security reasons. It’s not a major hassle but an extra step but for the sake of privacy it’s worth it

hi there, I tried and succeeded when this error appeared on my iPhone

1.go to setting -> general - > background app refresh and click wifi

2.go to settings -> accounts and password -> fetch new data -> automatically, push click off, icloud click fetched

3. close safari and open it again

Lhledik, thanks for finding (and posting) a solution to this latest bug (“no, it’s a feature!” -Apple).

It works, but only with the on-screen keyboard.

Has anyone found out how to get passwords to autofill using an external keyboard?

The only workaround I’ve found so far is to turn off Bluetooth to force the on-screen keyboard to appear, select the password to autofill the fields, then turn Bluetooth back on and reconnect to the external keyboard.

Okay, here is the roundabout solution I found...It’s kind of lengthy, but this definitely works:

Go to Settings>Accounts & Passwords>App & Website Passwords

Scroll to the BOTTOM!

There you find a place to add a website. Go to Safari and copy-paste the website link into the field and click to add that site. Then it allows you to add the username and password for that site! Thank God!!

I had no idea why my iPhone suddenly refused to ask me for my new password information recently. Previously it had always asked if this was a new password. Suddenly it stopped asking.
