Same issue since iOS 11 on iPhone SE. My best guess is that Apple's reply to all the people reporting bad battery life on iOS 11 was to lower the timeout interval for wifi which saves battery but makes background stuff like Whatsapp Web unusable. Such a mess.
I got the iphone 8 plus about three weeks ago and since the day I got it I noticed it would constantly disconnect from wi-fi as soon as I locked my phone. After spending 3 hours on the phone with an apple rep. Who had me reset my phone, my router, and connect to itunes for software I still had the same problem. Today while trying to connect to wi-fi I accidentally clicked the i on the right side and realized there’s an auto join button which was off. I clicked it on and my problem was fixed!!! I have not disconnected from wi-fi. I even left my house and it joined automatically when I got back.
I am having the same problem. I just got my 8 plus last week and it’s been constantly disconnecting itself from wi-fi while I’m home. Of course, I don’t notice right away and meanwhile my data is being used up. I have had iPhones since the 4S, but this is the first time I’ve ever had this problem.
Yes everyone contact Apple Support !!
I contacted Apple support !
I tried the following:
- Restoring iPhone as NEW
- Restoring using DFU
- Even Forget Network
Nothing Worked!
And they said that everything is fine at the hardware level ! I don't know ! But this is really crazy that they can't fix this fast if it is a iOS problem !
I am not living in any country where there is an Apple Store unfortunately but will visit an Apple Authorized Service Provider ! Have spoken to countless Senior Apple Advisors !! And they all tell me since I have followed all these steps it is a Hardware issue but I have doubts about that !
I have tried
- Restoring as New iPhone and not from Backup
- DFU restore (Downloading Firmware with iOS)
- Reset Network Settings
I went to Marriott Hotel and they have a decent Router I tested the same range to try to Micmic the similar scenarios of my Range at my residence ! There were no issues in the hotel ! So I guess to all those who are having issues it is most probably your Router and the iPhone 8/X having the latest Wi-Fi Harware which tries to Pull a lot of Bandwidth when downloading and your router not being able to meet the demands; so the router will cut-off the Signal !
I am not certain that what I have stated is the actual reason but if so I would like to know ! And if anyone can suggest a good in-expensive Router !
I have found enabling Auto-Join under Wifi and pressing info of the network connection works.
I have an iphone x
I was having the same issue but turns out it was from my router.
One day I restarted it and the problem just went away.
Tried all this. Doesn't work. Many friends have the same problem. There's clearly an Apple software issue that needs fixing.
Hi,
I have the same problem and this with the SSID I haven’t tried it. It may sound stupid but what is SSID and how do I change the number you are talking about? I’m desperate. I tried sooo many things and nothing works. The phone has warranty and I can return it but it’s my last option.
I spent 45 minutes chatting with Apple Support about this issue. I just got the 8 Plus on Monday the 27th and it started doing it right away (shutting off wi-fi on its own). Since going through these same steps with Apple Support yesterday, it hasn’t happened again (knock on wood).
Add me to the list with the Wi-Fi dropping out.
The suggestions from turning off auto-log-in and Wi-Fi location services have not worked so for. Neither has resetting and restoring as not worked either.
This may be off the topic and I'll get back to tearing my hair out in a second, but I thought your response was a nice touch, rarely seen with the anonymity of internet communication, and the polar opposite of the usual "ha ha stupid newbie" tone on many forums. Good on you 🙂
I'm having a similar issue. Ever since I updated to the recent iOS, my iPhone 6 is having connection problems. The only place I can get internet on my phone is right next to the router. When I walk into my room, less than 15 feet away, the wifi automatically disconnects. I know its my phone and not my internet because my family's phones (all iPhones) and laptops (MacBook Pro and Air) aren't having this problem. Anyone have a solution?
What is fixed? Your phone no longer disconnects from WiFi when locked?
When I go the "i" option next to the WiFi name, I only have the "Automatic access" option.
Where is the "Auto join" option?
My phone keeps disconnecting from WiFi when locked, it's so annoying.
iPhone 8 on iOS11 keeps disconnecting from wifi
