siri can't understand me anymore!

Siri was able to perfectly understand me prior to this IOS11 update. Now I'm having massive issues--constantly having to correct SIRI. Examples:

1. When I say "siri, turn lights off" (or "turn hue lights off"), siri responds with "calling Mike Voff". This occurs even when I emphasize the "T" sound in Turn.

2. When I say "siri, open simplisafe", siri responds with "it doesn't seem like you have an app called simply safe. if you'd like i can search...". I want to scream. the name of the app is simplisafe!!!.

There are other examples, but these are the two that fail on a consistent basis. I don't have an accent and Siri could understand me before...anyone else having this issue after the last release? Any solutions?

One would expect an "intelligent" virtual assistant to learn my habits--I say the SAME line every day to Siri, and, every day Siri fumbles the task. Alexa has yet to misunderstand me. **** poor, Apple.

So in my case, it turned out to be a bad microphone, in particular the microphone in the earpiece. I did a lot of troubleshooting with recording audio in various ways. Audio in movies I recorded was fine. Audio in the voice memo app was fine. But audio in those little audio snippets you can send in Messages was muffled and had a lot of background noise, and what finally clinched it was bad audio (muffled and with a lot of background noise drowning out my voice) when I shot video using the selfie camera. If that audio sounds bad, the primary microphone that Siri uses is shot or has a bad connection and needs to be replaced. It's a $300 repair, so I bought a new phone instead. 😟

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with Siri. I apologize Becky--First time using this and because I saw the apple symbol, I assummed (incorrectly) that you were from Apple.

I'm opening up a support case (but based on my experience with Apple in the past, this will likely do nothing for quite some time...at least until they figure out the battery issue for older iPhones). I'm so frustrated with Apple these days.

Same problem here too. I used to be able to dictate long texts and emails and Siri would get the whole thing 90% correct. I used to be really impressed. A month or two ago, I forget if it lined up with an iOS version update or not, everything changes and suddenly Siri is worse than useless at voice recognition.

What I said #1: Siri is worse than useless at voice recognition

What Siri heard: Siri is good for me

What I said #2: That is really not even close to what I said

What Siri heard: That Walmart

Ditto! Nothing I say is what Siri hears and types back. And half the time Siri puts its own name into what I’m dictating, but I never uttered the word “Siri.”

I’m not even bothering with the Siri feature from now forward. It literally makes me want to scream. I used to use Siri all the time with my iPhone 6, but it’s bunk with the iPhone 8.

Same here. New iPhone 8. It’s totally useless. I’m a guitarist. After years with an iPhone I am now a Get a Tourist. I just sent this to my boss.: “And I will send it PDF from work. I am leaving all over the road my other By his rectum now“. Let’s hope I’m not fired. And my god ****** name has been Bruce for 58 years. Not Robert.

I see you posted this last year in October but I’m pretty frustrated also I speak perfect English I was born in America but I speak to Siri and she comes up with the artist words that don’t even exist in the dictionary sometimes, like above I did not say artist words I said hardest words, artist, not artist not August odd list .....****, now im typing, I said ODDEST WORDS

So the words above artist hardest August is what Siri came up with when I said the word oddest.

I don’t know what’s happened Apple lately but I feel like I have a 1990 flip phone nowadays my wife has an android Samsung that’s just amazing I don’t think I’ve seen any really useful Apple updates the last three years,

That’s funny but I know you’re not making it up I had the same thing happen while I was driving I texted my boss and said “I’m homo away see you gay soon” But what I really said was I’m on my way I’ll see you soon, my boss is from Russia and when I explained it it made me talk to the phone to prove it to them luckily it came up with a different derivation and it said, “I am Roma to my vau CTU Boone”

I know it’s not my voice because I have Google Chrome installed and when I use Google voice control I can literally talk as fast as I want with a fake Indian accent and it still puts the words in there perfectly...

Apple died when Steve Jobs died what a shame

Well I just got an iPhone X and it’s worse than my iPhone 6 that I had, but you know it’s funny if I talk with a fake Indian accent it understands every word I wonder who the programmers are and where they’re from, I’m so done with Apple And it says I cannot reply it says post limit reached please try again in a few moments what the **** is that, I’m so sick Apple being the moral police
