get rid of no backups for x days notification

the notice is in the upper right of screen. i would like to get rid of this constant notification.


i looked here, google and in books. i tried system preferences for time machine and notifications. help please.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue removing the notification about your Time Machine backup. The good news there are a few options you have get this situation taken care of. First, to just remove the alert, go to System Preferences > Time Machine and uncheck the option to “Show Time machine in the menu bar”.
A second option is to make the backup, which will remove the alert. This help article can assist you with the steps: How to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac. A third option is to simply turn off Time Machine. Then it will no longer ask about backups nor provide alerts if a backup hasn't been completed.
