iOS 11 Dock Floating Problems On iPad Air 2

I upgraded my iPad Air 2 and now my dock seems to float from side to side or up or down depending if I’m in landscape or portrait, see below. Is there a fix for this or is it a known problem that is going to be addressed in a version upgrade? I have not been able to find any documentation on this issue & I can’t believe I’m the only one having this problem.

Thanks,

Jim...

You are not alone. I hope they fix this. I can’t access the apps on the left of the dock when this happens, so I am forced to restart. I expected them to catch the bug and correct it in the last update, but no luck yet.

As you can see, not only is it floating in both orientations, it disappears altogether on one side.

This was my initial best guess after some trial and error.

I contacted the game maker in question and basically got an FU it isn’t us.

However after uninstalling their game... ahem.... My Singing Monsters... haven’t had the problem since.

I didn’t even blame them, I suggested it was just as likely their ad server or server provider but nope.

If any of you are using ad driven games start troubleshooting there.

Same issue for me ipad pro 10.5, latest os.

Someone above was on to that i might be related to "ads". This seems like the trigger for me as well.

Scenario:

1. Started a game without ads (Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes). No issue with dock having moved when exiting app.

2. Started a game with ads (June's Journey), watched ad, dock had moved when exiting app.

3. Restarted ipad.

4. Started game with ads, watched ad, dock had moved when exiting app.

Speculation

Seems unlikely that the sandbox nature I imagine apps/games have in ios that they are able to be causing issues in the gui of the os. More likely some video drivers in the os itself being used by different games that needs some work. Maybe resolution related. But that's why you make the big bucks to sort out.

My girls have a bunch of kids games that have ads pop up all the time. Everything worked fine until our iPad Air upgraded to IOS11. If it is true that ads from apps or games are the issue, than it is a glitch or exception in IOS11 from the ads maybe that is causing it. We upgraded from the last version in IOS 10 to 11 and have had this happen ever since.

I've been dealing with this issue as well since iOS 11 update and I agree, Apple's response of the "reboot" is far from an acceptable solution.

Just adding a little information to those that went down the in-game ads track - I was doing some scouring of the inter-webs the past week to see if I could find some semblance of hope to correct this as it is the most annoying of issues. Some other folks have narrowed it down to not specifically in-game ads per-se but anything that changes the resolution of the screen (most of the time this is in-game ads). So, while uninstalling and removing said culprit apps would "fix" the problem - Apple, you approved them to be in your ever so "prestigious" store. This requires a fix and sooner rather than later. It's unacceptable and quite frankly ridiculous that something like this made it through your QA.

iOS 11 fully ****

Apple need to allow us to use ios10 and ios11 need to fix fully.
