iPhone call volume low

I had a problem with extremely low volume on my Iphone 6 - SOLVED!.
Other functions like, speaker, bluetooth were OK.
The solution was a big surprise to myself - since I was sure it was SW or a setting somewhere.
I carefully cleaned the little slot in the glas in the frontside of the phone where the sound comes out in normal use. I used a little piece of cotton with a little water/soap for dishwashing - do not soak it in water - did this app 5 times. I then used alcohol - did this app 5 times.
I almost cannot believe the change it did ;o) I had to adjust the volume down again.
So in my case it wasn't SW or settings - but simply dirt (not visible to me) that had to be mechanically remowed.

I got mine fixed by taking it to the service centre. They had to replace the earpiece.
well i didn't't think it would work, but last night i used
some cleaning solution for my screen sprayed in onto the phone and into
the ear piece then got a blunt plastic stick and scraped it then
put a microfibre cloth in and dragged it through the grill area
with the plastic stick pushing into the cloth, not a lot came off to be honest
then dialled my voicemail and it was loud and clear?
so not sure but worth trying the cleansing method
i'm just updating mine now time will tell i suppose
Ok my neighbors iPhone 7 has the same low call volume issue he tried everything mentioned here nothing worked finally he took it to the Apple service centre and they acknowledged its a hardware issue and has sent his phone for repairs and gave him a temporary replacement phone.

Seems the issue is not present when using a jacked in headset, even if you put it on speakerphone with the headset still jacked in.
This is as has been reported on numerous other posts in this thread, just sayin'. The issue is with the iPhone internal speaker volume. I, like others, do not have an issue with headsets plugged in or with iPhone (bottom) speakers. It is just the actual handset speaker.
I had a similar issue with my 6S and the Accesibility setting is another setting for your EQ,, I use it for CarPlay and last time I had your issue and I turned off EQ and, good to go so good luck I’m su
That's a workaround NOT a fix. Most have headphones or external speakers functioning, that doesn't help solve the problems being experienced.
The problem is known by Apple, they just choose not to fix it. I had a post deleted by the forum moderator that details the leaked memo which states (in keeping with ...this is a fixit forum...) fill out the service request form and take your phone in to be repaired. It noted that the iPhone 7s were particularly vulnerable.
Hi everyone - I took my phone to a MacStore and they did a “cleaning” outside where the sound comes out to my ears...! The “cleaning” made wonders and the issue was fixed!
All you need is a lil brush to clean your phone and remove possible dust that could be blocking the sounds coming out.
Will cost you nothing to give it a try!
Cheers 👍
Just got me iPhone 6S today June 15,2018 and the preinstalled iOS is 10.3.2 and WOW! The ear speaker is so freaking LOUD at 75% volume!!! Compared to my iPhone 6 with iOS 11 which has a very low earpiece volume when set to 100% volume setting. I thought I was going deaf recently and now I realise it's iOS 11 !!!! It's definitely iOS 11 bug and I will not be updating iOS on this new phone - staying on iOS 10 forever or until the volume software bug is fixed!
well fingers crossed mine has been ok after a clean up
if it was an IOS issue cleaning it wouldn't work?
i haven't done anything different apart from clean that ear piece
i didn't expect it to work but something done the trick
instead of getting someone to call me i just made
a recording and played it back and that was it back to normal
its so frustrating when companies stay quiet about it
why not bring out a new IOS and give us what we ask for
we pay £700 plus for a device that might not work?
just playing into the hands of the paranoid androids : )
Look, this is page 20 and there are many other threads detailing the same problem. Apple are NOT going to do anything about this, you have to just accept that.
The ONLY way you will possibly get any satisfaction is to go in to a ‘genius’ bar. When you make the appointment online if your phone is out of warranty you will be asked if you believe you should not have to pay. Say yes, I should not have to pay. I did and I didn’t pay.
Take your phone in and see what can be done. Some have tried this with no luck. Some have had success.
I’m just saying stop wasting your time posting here, Apple (clearly by now) are not going to do ANYTHING through the forum. And you will just become more frustrated.
Worst case, buy a Nokia, Pixel, Samsung etc etc. Apple have just reached a Trillion dollars, your low volume earpiece isn’t on their radar, sorry...
I had the issue for about a month so last week I went into the apple store and she ran a diagnostics scan and it showed there was an issue with the sound so she did a back up and did a phone restore and it worked! So try that! Call apple and see if you can make an appointment or if they are taking walk ins! Hope this helps!
Try backing up and factory reset. It worked for ke
Not sure if anyone else had the issue fixed like me by factory resetting it.
use speaker instead and adj volume accordingly.
I did shutdown my iPhone SE and leave it off for 5 minutes. After booting the speaker volume was back to normal.
I still have iOS 10.
