Unlock iPhone X without swiping

On the previous iPhones with Touch ID, we were able to unlock our phone without pressing the home button after getting recognized by Touch ID.

I’m missing this feature on the new IPhone X with Face ID. I would love to be able to unlock my phone without swiping up.

What do you guys think about this?

Looking at the phone is instantaneous. Swiping up takes no more time than getting the finger print to register with Touch ID. In fact. given we have an iPX and one phone with Touch ID. I can get in the iPX faster.

But what difference does any of this make?. This is how Apple chose to make things work on iPhone X. Arguing one over the other is pointless. Nothing anyone says here will make Apple change anything. The phone is operating as designed, but if anyone thinks it's a monumental issue, let Apple know via this link: Feedback - iPhone - Apple

You're responses are not helpful.

1. Put in passcode and the phone goes to the home screen.

2. Use touch ID and the phone goes to the home screen.

3. Use Face ID and then you have to swipe up to go to the home screen.

That's not right; it requires an addition action that takes a second or more.

That might not be a big deal, but, the screen locks in 30 seconds and you have to unlock it again immediately.

***There is a setting for require passcode, but immediately is the only choice and you can't uncheck it.

So, If I'm doing something that I'm using my phone for and I don't touch the screen every 30 I have to interrupt what I'm doing to mess with the phone.. or not use face ID.

With that logic the Iphone X with Face ID has 3 steps involved.

1. Pick up phone

2. Use Face ID

2 3. Swipe up.

Your step #2 is superfluous ... by picking up your phone and looking at it, your phone is unlocked and ready for swiping to get to your home screen, there is no "using" Face ID as if you have to do anything special. Once you do it a few times it is 2nd nature and a non-issue in actual use.

Your Logic is wrong if touching home button while holding the phone is a step then looking at the phone to unlock it is a step also how on earth touching home button and swiping up is the same swiping really is inconvenious

Its rather presumptuous to stay that someone else's preference is wrong. You have a preference. Apple has chosen to do something other than that. You can learn to live with it or get a different phone. Also, you should submit feedback.
