internet videos wont play in Quicktime

When I click on a video, no picture comes up, just the access bar with the play/pause and volume buttons appears. Also, I noticed on Ads, theres a big quicktime Q logo with a big question mark in front of it.

Open Quicktime and click on
"Preferences" in the menu bar (the bar that contains file and edit) and click on the "Advanced" tab in the "Preferences" window.
