Can't delete Maps history. It keeps coming back.

As the title says. Every time I swipe right and remove some of the entries in my Maps history, they just appear in the list again. There's 5 of them. Can't remove any of them on either iPhone or iPad, both running iOS 11, but I first noticed this when both devices ran iOS 10. It's not OS version specific, it's like it's saved in the cloud and it keeps restoring the entries when I remove them.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 11.1, null

thanks for your suggestion...but it did not work for me.

I tried going into Settings>AppleID>iCloud. Under "Apps using iCloud" I toggled Maps to "off" on both my iPhone and iPad. Then I went back to Maps and all the magically reappearing locations that I tried deleting several times were gone on both the iPhone and the iPad. I then repeated the process and toggled the Maps app to "on."

so far, none of the addresses that would constantly reappear after deleting them have reappeared. I tried entering a new address and selecting directions for it, then cancelling and deleting and that worked successfully. Old addresses that automatically would reappear after deleting them have not reappeared...so far.

I did find one possible fix, at least in my case. I have noticed in the past that occasionally my Reminders lists aren't quite in sync between my Apple devices. In those instances I will just add a new item like "x", which seems to be enough to force the list to re-sync. I tried the same idea on Maps. I added a new location to the favorites on each device that is used with my iCloud account (iPhone, iPad, MacBook, iMac). Even though the devices had previously synced when iCloud was enabled on each device, as they all had the same unwanted items in the history, having each device actually write something new to the iCloud Maps data seemed to force things to sync correctly. I was then able to remove the unwanted history items and delete the new favorite items I had just created on each device, and now everything is synced and the way it should be. I hope that made sense, and hopefully it will work for you.

that worked for 2 hours and then the addresses that were deleted reappeared again. have toggled Maps to off in Apps using iCloud. this seems to be the only way to keep deleted addresses from reappearing

I know exactly what you are going through and the frustration it causes.

I too had this issue. Addresses in Maps would seem to get "stuck" in iCloud. No matter what I did to delete them on my iPhone 6s, they would reappear. They would not be in Maps on my Macbook, just my iPhone.

I was working with Apple Support but never did find a cause or solution.

The issue actually got resolved by accident. I had problems with my Apple Watch unlocking my Macbook. Apple Support made me update to osHigh Sierra. That apparently re-sync'd iCloud and the addresses showed up in Maps on my Macbook. I deleted recents and it went away in Maps on my iPhone. Fixed the Watch unlocking my Macbook too!

Apple Support said he could not take credit for the fix, does not know what happened or why ... but no more "stuck" addresses!
