App Store double click to install... nothing happening

Trying to download an app in the App Store on iPhone X iOS 11.1. I can download previously downloaded apps but new apps that require the double click to install I double click and nothing happens. Am I missing something? Tried to download different apps and nothing but previously downloaded apps will install. Tried on WiFi and phone network and neither will let me double click to install.

It means double-click the side button rather than "double-tap" the screen. This allows Face ID for installation. This is very awkward wording for the iPhone X interface because the distinction between clicking and tapping is subtle. It should say "double-click button" just to avoid confusion by thousands of users who have obviously searched for the answer.

Do it on the physical button on the side where you see the request popping up
