So I have just received my iPhone X and have attempted to make a call. The person on the other end can hear me but I can't hear them, unless it's on speaker or I have headphones in. I have tried plugging and unplugging headphones over and over. Also I have tried restarting and resting the iPhone nothing has worked so far.

I returned mine. Didn't much like the phone.
Glad to hear the hard reboot fixed it. It did not fix mine. Apple was able to conduct some tests over the net to my phone and within 90 minutes I had a new, replacement phone.
Same problem here! A reboot does TEMPORARILY fix the issue (for me), but it keeps coming back.

I have this same issue too. Apple did hard reset which didn't work. Replaced phone last week and today, same problem started. pretty irritating given cost of this over priced phone. Any tricks?
I have the same issue, but so far working after restart. Spoke to Apple support and did online diagnostics showing all green. They said never heard about that and to call them back when happen again.
Also have this problem. restart is a temporary fix.
I have the same issue since the last days. Upper Speaker doesnt work. Restart will fix it temporarily. Please fix it.

Same thing here in my wife's iPhone 8 Plus. 1st time so far. Hard reset fixed it. Not sure if it will repeat. My iPhone 8 has had no issues so far
