iPhone X weak cell signal

I received my iPhone X on Friday and have set it up. While it's a fantastic phone overall, the cell reception *****. On my previous iPhones (4, 5s, & 6s) I had no problems in my apartment and could use the phone in any room. Not the case with iPhone X. I have no reception anywhere unless I'm sitting in the window where I get a single bar. This is absurd for the supposed most advanced cell phone. Is there a setting that can be changed to boost reception? I live in downtown San Francisco where cell coverage should be abundant. Any fixes would be appreciated.

Further to my post above where my iPhone X was FAR weaker than my wife's iPhone 6 at the same location, a few days later I'm finding that the phone won't make calls, or drops calls, from locations where I never had a problem with my iPhone 6s Plus. I'm frequently seeing one-bar cell signals in places where I've usually had two or even three bars of cell signal, and one bar frequently means "zero signal"; the phone won't make a call.

Really serious. This phone will let me send animated cartoon images of my face but won't let me make telephone calls! Somebody's forgotten what's important in a cell phone.

I've seen the two suggested "solutions" here - call the cell provider and switch voice to 3G. I've done the former - there have been no recent changes to the network - and I won't do the latter because I paid a mighty sum to have best phone using the latest technology on the market.

Any other likely fixes to try before I take it to Apple? Thanks in advance.

I’m in New Zealand and I, too, have the same problem. I took it to my service provider who suggested replacing the SIM card (old cards have been known to cause this problem). It made no difference. My 7+ gets full reception when I have none. Very, very frustrating. Let’s hope it is just a software glitch and a fix comes out soon!

I am having the same issue with my iPhone X. I get a call, and can't hear the other person and vice versa. Dropped calls, slow data and failed text messages. This is very frustrating especially when I travel every week for week and practically live on my cell phone. I checked with my carrier numerous times, had them update carrier settings etc. I upgraded from the 6 and I am about to go back to using that. The $1100 investment I made on the phone is kind of worthless if I can't use it for calling and texting, not to mention the ridiculous cell phone bill I pay every month. I hope Apple comes out with a fix for this, otherwise my loyalty may change to Samsung if I can't get this iPhone X to work like it is supposed to!

I have the exact same problems with the weak cell signal. I exchanged the first one I had for a second one and the proble is identical. Calls are being g stopped on a daily basis and call quality is a common complaint from people I am speaking with on the X.

I love everything about the device with only one exception, albeit it major exception. The iPhone X seems to be absolutely everything someone can wish for in a cell phone less the phone aspect.

Anything we can we do to make the phone more reliable?
