No service after iOS 11 update

iPhone 6 Plus getting searching or no service. I can make phone calls/iMessage while on WiFi. I’ve tried these steps:

1. Turn on/off, hard shut off as well.

2. Turn on/off airplane mode, cellular, LTE, roaming.

3. Reset network settings.

4. Reset all settings. (Worked for a day only).

5. Update to 11.1 iOS and 30.1 carrier update.

6. Check time and date settings.

7. Took out SIM card.

8. Took off case.

9. No water damages.

10. Restore (Worked for a day).

Looked at multiple sites and so far it still says searching. AT&T account is good. I have 5 iPhones on my account and they have not updated and they still work. (iPhone 5s, 6, 6, 7, 7). Trying to avoid going to the Apple store as I know they will probably throw a $320 charge as I’m out of warranty. Any tips is welcomed!

UPDATE****** after i was unable to restore my device in DFU mode i contacted apple support via chat and was greeted with another Advisor who had no idea what was really going on with my phone. After about 45 mins of chatting, i finally asked to be transferred to someone with a little more knowledge about the subject and got senior advisor Brandon. I told him my previous problem and how i was trying a DFU restore and was getting errors such as "Iphone not found" and "Error 4016". Right after Brandon say my Iphone was in warranty and that error 4016 was a hardware issue for sure. I hope this helps you guys fix your issue!

iPad Pro 12.9 LTE (ATT) w/Logitech Create Keyboard case.

Since updating to even the latest iOS 11 update, I consistently (but still randomly) have the the following issues:

1.) After waking (opening Logitech Create case), iPad shows "No Service"

2.) iPad requires entering passcode, even though other parameters requiring passcode entry have not been triggered. (I.e, it hasn't been 24hrs, etc. Fingerprint touch SHOULD still work.

3.) Lightining charging with Apple cable and charger will just stop charging. Disconnect/Reconnect (unplug/plug) will fix temporarily.

Hard reset fixes the "No Service” temporarily....until it happens again, and only a hard reset fixes it.

No carrier update is showing available.

I'm convinced there is some bug in iOS 11 causing this. It is rather annoying to have to hard reset the iPad every time this happens. It is also annoying to have to make sure to check the iPad is still charging thru the Apple cable and charger. Hard reset seems to make no difference on the charging part...it is just something I've noticed along with the "No Service".

I do not (and should not have to) reset my network settings. I have two VPN connections that are a pain to have to set up again after a network settings reset, and frankly, everything was working fine in iOS 10. (One VPN setting is thru a NETGEAR router, and requires transferring the OpenVPN settings files thru iTunes...which, AFAICT isn't even an option anymore with the latest iTunes.

Since Steve is gone, Apple quality control has DRASTICALLY gone down hill, and I am thankful that I still have (mostly) Pre-Tim Cook Apple HW. I used to be an Apple Fan-boy, enthusiast, and advocate. Can't say that anymore. It seems we techno geeks have been forgotten by the latest Apple regime. Problem is, what is the alternative? (For laptop, latest 13in HP Spectre 360 quad-core is looking mighty compelling. And the fact is, Windows 10 ain't bad. My issue is that I'm fairly tied to Apple eco-system, and it would be a major pain to have to redo my setups. Can't we have the board fire Tim, and get another "Steve”at the helm? (Jon Ivy?).

OK...sorry...rant over....bottom line is that my iPad Pro issues are related to iOS 11, and Apple needs to address them...

Nope...still have to hard-reset every time it happens. It is odd that touch-ID also doesn't work every time this happens, and insists on entering the lock-code...even though the normal/expected lock-code triggers have not been triggered.

I did notice that the battery thing (charging stops) seems to be happening every time I connect the smart connector to the Create keyboard while the iPad is charging. I'd say that might be a Logitech issue, and needing a FW update for the Create keyboard for the iPad Pro 12.9 and iOS 11. I don't have much hope to see one. Logitech is like many other ODM (cheap) manufacturers...there is probably about Zero resource budget allocated for product family lifecycle management...it is little better than "Ship it and Forget it". Belkin, Logitech, etc, they are mostly all the same. It seems that once they've moved on to the "next big thing", you can forget about seeing any kind of support updates, and prior Revisions & products are abandoned at an alarming rate. I can tell you from first hand experience, most Asian ODMs (where the stuff is manufactured) do not seem to grasp the importance of the product family lifecycle management paradigm...(i.e., Demming product improvement processes). Also, typically their teams change personnel so often, they do not have the benefit/value of team experience to manage product lifecycle. Team members are "plug & play", with no value placed on keeping good individuals in place. (I once had an ODM replace my product's team leader and almost the entire team 3x in a 10 month interval! Hard to even bring a viable product to market under those circumstances.) Which is why Revision C devices very often have the exact same bugs that were already fixed in Revision A. It is a huge issue that nobody wants to talk about or address.

The reason we expect better from Apple is because Steve always drove this point of QA in regard to product family lifecycle management, and they (Apple) also did/does all the software directly themselves. Apple uses the "Contract Manufacturer" model with the Asian Manufacturers. The others use the "ODM" model...under "ODM" they merely DIRECT the Asian ODM to DEVELOP and Manufacture...so the SW Engineering is all done at the ODM as well.

(Also IMHO, we get annoyed because we expect more, because we PAY more for Apple products than we do for ODM stuff.) It is still better at Apple than others, just not as good as it was when Steve was still alive...

I have had this issue for a while now. I have tried everything that is suggested on this site.

Network Settings reset, factory reset, restore from DFU mode nothing has worked. Apple ran diagnostics and told me nothing is wrong with my phone. I am 45 days out of warranty. They wont replace the device.

Do something Apple! Galaxy phones look pretty good now.

Hmmm...I am skeptical that the "antenna is causing the problem" is the issue and that it "just happens" to coincide with the iOS 11 update. Also, in my case the issue is with an original iPad Pro 12.9in and not an iPhone. I have an iPhone 6 Plus that DOES NOT have this issue. My iPad Pro is in a Logitech Create Keyboard case (recommended by Apple) and is fully protected from HW damage...so I cannot fathom how my "antenna" is "suddenly" an issue...just out of nowhere.

This issue started happening after the iOS 11 update. Frankly, it sounds to me like the "Genius Bar" you've visited has not yet learned the proper lesson from the recent iOS battery-gate issue.

No way that "replacing the device" is the proper fix for everybody who is reporting this issue since the iOS 11 update. And since my original 12.9in iPad Pro is most certainly out of warranty, I don't think Apple is going to "replace" my device without some money exchanging hands...probably large amounts of money. And I am NOT about to buy a new iPad Pro because of this. Telling me to get a new device for this issue is the same exact thing that Apple just recently got into trouble for on the battery/iOS SW slow down issues!

I would be interested to hear from folks who've gone ahead and done an actual factory reset and then re-configured their device (NOT RESTORED FROM BACKUP) to see if that has fixed the issue. I highly suspect it does. However, to me it is unacceptable to have to factory reset my device due to an iOS update. That is firmware/OS upgrade 101 rules, and having to do so is typically only seen with cost-effective foreign electronic manufacturers, where they do not understand proper/expected product/software lifecycle management. You should NEVER require the device to have to be reset to factory defaults because of your Firmware/OS update...except in VERY, VERY EXTREME circumstances. (Like a case where the memory table needs to be reallocated or a similar type of drastic OS/Firmware internal architecture change. Even then, it indicates that SW Engineering did not properly plan for product lifecycle management.)

Same issue here. My son's phone is a 6 plus and we have T-mobile, restored and troubleshot w Apple. Did not resolve the issue. Very upset about this. It took me a long time to get this for my son. I hope they resolve it for me. I opened a ticket with Apple and I am waiting to hear back from then on Tuesday.

If you live in the UK get your phone sent back to who ever you purchased it from. All mobiles have to be fit for purpose for 6 year under your consumer rights for all hardware faults. There has to be no damage to the phone.

I’ve just sent mine back to EE and I’ve been told it will be exchanged or refunded once it’s been inspected.

If you bought from Apple they should do this for you too.

To everyone in the UK get your phone returned under your consumer rights. As they are saying it’s a hardware fault, so providing there’s no damage to your phone they need to ensure all hardware needs to be fit for purpose for 6 years.

If it shows as a manufacturing fault then it is not fit for purpose and will be exchanged, repaired or refunded.

Call who ever you bought the phone from, i.e. EE or Apple.

Hi yarylee,

I finally got this resolved on a device I essentially put away, by having an excellent carrier rep and Apple rep work with me on this. Between the two of them and perseverance, we got it done. Took some time as wifi was awful and we hit a few bumps, but we all hung in there and got the signal going again to my GREAT surprise. I had given up, then decided to finally give it a go again.

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but the two techs working together as well as working with me & vice-versa is the only thing that worked. I started with the carrier, then the carrier had Apple join in and further assist and confirm. I really feel I won the lottery in getting two techs who were not only knowledgeable but also willing to put in the effort.

Wishing everyone the best, as no signal is not okay and extremely upsetting

iPhone 7, running on 11.2.1, tried everything from toggling airplane mode, removal of SIM, replacing SIM card, network reset, factory reset (twice).

The removal of SIM, new SIM, and factory reset have worked only ~1 hour, then the phone is back to searching/no service.

Anyone else still having issues or a possible resolution? I see a user that is a few threads above me had success, I replied and am pending an answer hopefully.

Any further insight or knowledge is appreciated. Thank you.

I’ve been going thru all of this since mid-December with Verizon! First I had iPhone 7, that wasn’t even a year old yet. I jumped thru all the hoops with the resets, set up as new iPhone, new sims & all that good stuff - Verizon sent me a refurbished iPhone 7 to replace it, they decided it was the phone. Here we go, round 2: did it all over again, low & behold, same crap! Just received a brand new iPhone 8, Verizon contacted their Apple rep, said it was a problem with the 7’s they where having. All I did was activate the phone today, still same problems! I can’t make or receive calls, sometimes it won’t hook to wi-fi, I don’t get any service! I have 2 other cell phones & 2 iPads in my house that are working just fine on Verizon network. It’s just my number, not one person in the last month can figure this out! There is nothing on this new iPhone 8, straight out of the box and activated by Verizon with my number, no apps, no photo, no music!

I have something working and I thought I would share it. (I think it's a fluke, but sharing is caring). I have two places I use wifi calling that the wifi is terrible - at home, and in a private plane (satellite). When this started happening, it was after the update but also after having wifi calling in a bad wifi area. My fix was to do a hard reset (holding buttons down for a long time well past the time it goes dark) WHILE I was outside the slow wifi area. This worked and I didn't have to reset all my wifi passwords. Since the fix is free and it may be a combination of wifi quality, wifi calling and switching to carrier, I thought I would put this out to get feedback from others. I did get to a VERY senior tech at Apple and they now know about this problem and this thread. I expect it will be addressed soon.
