Is anyone having problems with the battery life of the Siri remote for the 4K Apple TV?

I am experiencing issues with the Siri remote for the Apple TV 4K. I get about 2-3 days of usage before I receive notice the battery is running low on the remote and requires recharging. I use it with DirecTV Now and don't spend a great deal of time changing channels so there isn't a great deal being asked from the remote.

I had the issue as well. Apple sent me a new remote and it didn’t help the issue. I ended up doing a factory reset on the Apple TV and the remote battery life was restored to months instead of days. It’s a pain but so is having to recharge your remote every night.

Same problem here:

First remote out the box lasted a long time on initial charge (probably around a month easily).

An update came along to the Apple TV.

Thinking about this update now, it probably killed the charge very quickly that was working so well before the update.

I reckon it would have lasted another month or two if I didn’t update it.

I wish I’d have checked the battery level before the update...

So I charged it:

First charge and lasted 4 days.

Second charge and lasted 4 days.

No gaming use, just normal Netflix and my purchased Apple movies.

Apple replaced the remote control and guess what?

It came with 100% charge on Wednesday. It is now Saturday morning and it is flat.

I’m going to reset my Apple 4K box today and I’ll post my results.

Hi Junderw6, I received a new remote with 100 percent charge on and it lasted 3 days. I charged the remote and performed the full factory reset (update and reset option on the box) and the remote has gone from 100 percent to less than 80 percent in half a day. I'm not playing games, just using it for netflix and watching apple tv movies.

I'm on to apple now, not sure whether it's the apple tv box but I think it was ok before the last update it had. Hopefully a simple software update will sort it...

Have contacted Apple and given them this link as it seems pointless sending my 2nd remote back again. It's still under warranty for 10 months or so. I'm hoping they'll have an update to fix this problem. I have reset the Apple box already. I'm pretty sure my first remote was OK before the last firmware update.

They are phoning me back next week after they have logged it with the engineers.

It would be great if other people could contact Apple about this as they just don't see these forums/discussion threads!

I purchased my 4k when they first came out. It is almost year end and I still have yet to get it to work. The first remote didn't work and now the second one doesn't. I will leave it charging all night this time and see what happens in the morning. I had to actually let Apple charge $65 on my VISA to ensure that I would send the first one back when I had literally just opened the brand new box! If I could afford to, I would toss it out the window. If the remote is so much an issue that there is a community full of questions regarding this, how is Apple NOT addressing it by sending out new reconfigured remotes that work??? Very unimpressed for an item I was very excited to purchase.
