iPhone X speaker issue

I’m the only one who is having problem with iPhone X speaker ? In particular I hear a cracke with the upper speaker when I reproduce some songs on Apple music or the ringtones such as ’Apex’ and ‘bell tower’ around the 80% and full volume ? Thanks for the help.

I, too, am having this same problem! When making or receiving calls on the speakerphone of my iPhone X, the audio quality is absolutely horrible! There is static, crackling and distortion — it sounds like the speaker is peaking. Plus, the overall volume is much softer than it was on the iPhone 7. I took my iPhone X back to the Apple store in Walnut Creek, California and they gave me a replacement, but the same problem occurred on the replacement. For what it’s worth, when the Apple Store did a full audio diagnostic test on my original iPhone X and the replacement iPhone X, the results for both phones came back as if there was nothing wrong with the phones. So, the audio diagnostic tests do not properly pick up on the horrible distorted speakerphone sound. Hopefully, Apple will realize that this is an issue and get it fixed, whether it is fixable through software or the phones have to be replaced. After all, beneath all of the glitz, these devices are telephones, and we should be able to hear the people we are calling with with some degree of clarity — especially from an $1100 phone.

I have the same issue. I swap my phone several times but all the phones are affected with same issue. I am thinking it might get fixed with a software update. I swapped my phone 4 times but each and every phone has this issue. So I though to wait for sometime and see weather a software update can fix it. Currently the phone I am using has the issue.

I went to apple store this weekend and Best Buy tried 6 different iPhone X models and they all did the same thing very easy to duplicate if you select piano riff ringtone at higher volume. Looks like they all do it for now let’s see what solution apple wil provide for us.

I’m really starting to think it’s the speaker that they are currently using or something hardware related that needs to be updated in all the phones across the board. Which would be crazy with millions of devices.

The fact that Apple has allowed users to Turn the volume up to full indicates that it should be safe to the Spekaer/Earpiece system !

There are already Software Controls which do not allow you to turn the volume up completely or every iOS device would get their speaker damaged !

Sorry to say but the Genius Bar Guy is wrong to tell you not to turn yoir volume up to that level !

There is an issue if he doesn’t know and Apple is working on it !

My iPhone is/was buzzing, crackling, doing the same thing, now however it has gotten worse, slowly got worse and worse and degraded, then yesterday finally it stopped working all together, the bottom speaker is great no problem there, the top speaker , can't hear anyone on calls, no music ( i'm currently in Brazil so no apple store here, so I have to wait until i'm back in the UK) so I decided to turn my phone off, big mistake, my phone then got stuck on the apple logo screen, even after a hard reset, so after putting it in recovery mode, I got it back up and running, I contacted apple via chat, they basically did the same thing I did already, and told me to try not let my battery die or turn off the phone, so that was great help! what type of advice is that! Also, when I told them about the speaker issue they said that they hadn't heard about it, and if it was more then my phone there would be "chatter" about it online, so I directed the representative to this thread on their own forum, and various google links, to which he said he knew nothing about it,..... so I decided to try beta 11.2.5, that didn't help, so I downgraded back to 11.2.1 and then wiped my phone set up as new and restored it, somehow on the 5th time, it helped, my phone turned back on without getting stuck on the apple logo, then suddenly the top speaker worked again for one call, then VERY quiet, I can hear the person on the other end if theres no other noise, but no good in public or anything like that, and as for music, well lets just say its good I have the bottom speaker still... I can make calls using speaker phone and the top speaker is so non existent that I don't notice the crackle,I do think its software related, but of course I won't know until the next update, or when i'm back home in the UK and can at least try to get it replaced so I can make calls, I just thought id share whats happening with my iPhone,

Thank you for that ! Apple like the battery fiasco hasn’t addressed this major issue and they ought to issue a statement soon !

I too contacted Apple and the Senior Advisor consulted with the Engineering Department and they said they have received reports! Also I have submitted a Hardware Bug Report via The Developor Forum and they collected data from my iPhone along with Video footage showing the issue and stilll awaiting their response!

The most unhelpful thing is in India where we don’t have Apple Stores they do not accept a RETURN or give a REPLACEMENT iPhone within 14 days of purchase!

Which is nonsense!

And to get a replacement you have to send the iPhone to an out of state service center where then you will not have a phone to use ! Which is something Apple should fix !
