Apple Watch - workout app freezes

On my new cellular Nike AppleWatch, the workout app is stuck or very slow. It opens but I can’t scroll through workouts. Sometimes after a minute it moves but for all practical purposes it’s locked. I had a series 1&2vand never had this issue.

The only fix/workaround I have found is a) restart the watch b) force quit the app. It then works again but the Problem quickly returns.

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had this problem for ages, tried all the suggestions, nothing worked, so I called Apple Support. They got me to completely unpair the watch. And by un-pair I don't mean just disconnect bluetooth, I mean completely unlink the phone and watch (ie. go into the Watch app on your phone, select the watch, click on the "i" icon, then select un-pair Apple watch).

Once this is done, you then need to re-pair it, and what this does is completely re-install all the apps etc from your phone, onto the watch.

This solved the problem and my workout app has been working fine ever since, no more freezing. Hope that helps someone.

I’ve tried all suggestions, even set up my watch and phone as new. Did not help. Last resort is a trip to apple store I guess.

anybody come up with anything?

the same for me. Since 4.0 or 4.2 the Workput App needs aprox. 30 sec to start and react to userinput. Everything else is quite slow .... not a nice experience 😟

Thank you for the advice Greg much appreciated. Yeah, further testing this I still do get a 5-10 second lag like you said but not freezing for an infinite amount of time.

Every time I am prepared to take in to the Apple Store it starts working then it starts up again. I know when I go into the store I wont be able to reproduce the issue....

I have not found any solution. Still often locks up on launch or becomes very slow and responsive. Have become adept at force quitting the app. Not the best way but often the fastest.

Well they did put a senior support specialist on the case who has followed up regularly so I do think they are taking it seriously. Now to get the bug to show again...

It’s still happening on my watch, was hoping the update would fix it but seems to be slightly worse now!

same issue here since OS4.0. Still having this issue after 4.2.3 update but much better.

Mine hasn’t fixed itself at all, phone is always close by when I use the app so I can’t say that’s the issue for me.

Nope. That might work for you, but I don't even use Apple Music. Music isn't even set up to start when I start a work out. Apple need to fix this BUG, not us, doing all these silly workarounds.
