Apple Watch - workout app freezes

On my new cellular Nike AppleWatch, the workout app is stuck or very slow. It opens but I can’t scroll through workouts. Sometimes after a minute it moves but for all practical purposes it’s locked. I had a series 1&2vand never had this issue.

The only fix/workaround I have found is a) restart the watch b) force quit the app. It then works again but the Problem quickly returns.

Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Whilst I can't say why that is happening, the following steps may help:

Close certain apps and restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch:

Close the Watch app, Activity app and Health app (if open) on your iPhone:
- Double-click the Home button, then swipe up on each app preview to close the apps.
Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first:
- Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- How to restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the issue persists, next unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:

The Watch app on your iPhone takes a backup of your watch automatically when unpairing via the app.
Initially choose to Restore from Backup during set up (most data and settings will be restored, with some exceptions, such as Apple Pay cards, passcode).
If the issue persists, consider instead unpairing and setting it up as a new watch.

If the issue still persists, then I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance:

Nope. That might work for you, but I don't even use Apple Music. Music isn't even set up to start when I start a work out. Apple need to fix this BUG, not us, doing all these silly workarounds.

That worked ! Weird but it worked for me. Setting the Dock to Recent helps.

That's because you're reset the watch. I got a new series 3, reinstalled from backup. Worked great for a week. After a week it started to lag again.

I find that it sometimes helps to turn on reduce motion.

I've had this problem for a long time and it was driving me nuts. I tried many things. I just wanted to report that the latest update to WatchOS 4.3.1 seemed to have resolved it for me!
