iTunes Genius won't turn off and is stopping iCloud Music Library from syncing

I can no longer update my iCloud Music Library because I get an error stating the Genius cannot be updated and that I need to turn it off and back on. It says to go to File > Library > Turn Off Genius to turn it off and then back on BUT Turn Off is not an option, only Update is.

What do I do?

What I found as a solution is to go to iTunes Preferences > General and uncheck iCloud Music Library because Genius won't turn off while that is engaged. Once I unchecked it and let it delete the Genius info and then I turned it back on, it was fixed!

Well, I may try that once the process (currently gathering info from iTunes library) finishes and most probably fails. Mind you, I had never used Genius before I got the error message. Therefore, I for the first time turned it on just in case but it didn't help. In my case, every time the process fails the system itself unchecks the iCloud box.

It appears that my iTunes Library.itl was corrupted. With the help of Apple support we created a new iTunes library and I moved all the songs there. Now the iCloud sync is in progress. Unfortunately, Date Added for all the iTunes content will be the date on which you rebuild the library. I also need to try and export my playlists from the old library and import them back to the new.
