Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
Every now and then, my phone isn't waking up when I press the side button. If I wait a few seconds and press again, Apple Pay pops up, so the first press was recognised.
Is anyone else having this issue or should I see what Apple say? I've rebooted, though not tried a full factory reset yet.

I have replaced 3 devices since I bought the first one in February 2018. They all had different problems, from GPS to the one described above. Do you know how much time was spent on backup and restore? Do you know how frustrating that is?
And this specific problem is a widespread one but Apple probably failed to detect it, and apparently failed to address it after more than 6 months. This is less than 100 lines of programming to me, how difficult is it to fix?
Sorry for all the problems you have been through but my iPhone X does not have the problem you have nor does anyone else I know with an iPhone X have this problem. So how would you identify the 100 lines of code that would fix yours but not cause mine to have a fault?
The iPhone should wake every time the Side button is pressed. I would suggest contacting Apple Support as they can look more into this.
I can confirm that pressing the Side button on the iPhone X does wake/sleep the iPhone, as it does on my iPhone X.

You're welcome, there shouldn't be any delay. Apple Support can determine what may be causing this.

The reset all settings didn't help, which just leaves the restore to factory settings, which I'm trying not to do, as it will take a few days to get things back to normal. Quite annoying.
If you are in the Beta program you do not report your problem to apple support you use the Feedback tool you received when you joined the program.
The problem persisted even before beta. Actually since the first day I got the phone. I'm testing beta firmwares to see if the problem gets fixed or if its after all a hardware problem.
Apple! Please fix this! It is a significant bug in the unlocking process!!!
Can you tap the screen and wake it up? If not then you probably have a hardware issue, get it attended to.
It’s definitely not a hardware issue since it wakes up on the second press and shows Apple Pay, indicating that the first press was detected. Also, wake on press is disabled.
