What TV brand is the 65' 8500? is that a Samsung? Have you had any single loss since you switched the cable?

I’m having the same issue as well. I have an LG 65” SJ8500 with Dolby Vision connected to the Apple TV 4K. I’ve tried turning the SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) settings off and on on both the Apple TV and LG and still have the same issue. Glad to find other people having this issue because I almost returned my TV thinking it was defective.
My HDMI is ARC, so your saying I should plug my Apple TV into the arc port? Don’t I have to connect the APTV to the sound bar first and then connect the sound bar to the TV?
Everyone: when you call Apple support, do you tell them that we have a big thread here and the issue keep having victims?
I can confirm that using the Echogear HDMI cable fixed the issue for me too. Bought the cable 2 weeks ago and no problems.
Nope..this exact problem is happening with my brand new 82" Samsung HD HCP TV
I think it’s an issue with the LG C7 and HDR/Dolby Vision. I have the issue with my Apple TV and the PS 4 Pro. Incredibly annoying. I hope there’s an LG firmware update soon.
Unfortunately that's not the case, this is happening on my new Samsung 82" HD / HDR set with ATV4

Mine is connected to the Samung One Connect box. Tried other ports as well. Same issue.. Are there Apple support people reading this thread??
I have a LG 65SJ8500 65-Inch 4K TV.
Let him know that this thread existst ;)
Experiencing the same problem, very frustrating.
Just going out on a limb here, but does anyone think the issue could be a WiFi signal dropping out or slowing down enough to cause the video content to seize?
I've been connected via Ethernet since day 1. Definitely has nothing to do with WiFi. My guess it's a fault in the HDMI handshake process between the Apple TV and TV. tvOS software issue I assume.
valid points. I'm now dreading the inevitable signal loss! Been trying to figure this out for so long LOL Let me know if you ever come up with a solution! Thanks.
I upgraded to the Belkin cable (48 Gbps, HDMI 2.1 compatible), and no issues so far. Seems HDMI cables aren't as robust as I thought, even when certified for a certain bandwidth.
