Even with 11.3 - problem remains.
The temp workaround suggested by Apple Support staff has worked for me though. Haven’t experienced the issue in months. Highly recommend using Dolby Vision @ 30hz as a temp measure

I’m having the same issue as well. I have an LG 65” SJ8500 with Dolby Vision connected to the Apple TV 4K. I’ve tried turning the SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) settings off and on on both the Apple TV and LG and still have the same issue. Glad to find other people having this issue because I almost returned my TV thinking it was defective.

I referred him to this thread as well as sending videos of the issue. All was passed on to senior engineers. Radio silence ever since. I’ve been bugging Apple since I purchased the ATV4K (which I bought right on launch). Took them months just to realise the issue wasn’t my ATV going to sleep automatically (even though I made it painfully clear it was a HDMI issue and sent them videos etc).
I’ve given up checking in with them - disappointing and lackluster support. Seems to be a trend of Apple lately - great hardware, buggy half-baked software and they expect us to just wait 6-12 months for the bugs to be cleared out (if at all).
That’s my whinge for today!
One month without black screen. The solution for me is to plug my Apple Tv 4K into a non-ARC HDMI port on my LG B7. Also, all my other devices are connected into a non-ARC HDMI port. Now I can enjoy Dolby Vision 60Hz and HDR 60Hz without picture dropouts on my Oled TV.
I have the exact same finding. I am now a little over one week in with no black screen or HDMI connectivity loss. The trick seems to be that if you are using an Apple TV 4K, you cannot use an HDM I-ARC
I have a similar issue. After several days of normal use, Apple TV 4K loses audio over HDMI. I am connecting Apple TV 4K to my Samsung TV via HDMI 2.0 cable. The TV is Samsung UN40KU7000. Sometimes, and I emphasize "sometimes", the audio comes back on when I connect the TV to another HDMI port. I tried resetting both Apple TV and restoring TV to factory firmware. Apple TV audio will work for a week and then the symptoms re-appear. I am an Apple fan but really hate this device. The new remote touch pad is a pain as well. I don't have these problems with my Roku 4k or old Apple TV 3rd generation. So the only constant is my Apple TV 4K 64GB.
Apple please provide a formal answer to this issue!
I tried the non-Arc and that didn't work. I did try 2 different cables and one worked better than the other. First cable it was every few seconds and the other cables was maybe every 10min.
I just order some Monoprice HDMI cables that someone recommended in another forum. I paid $10 shipped for a 3ft and 6ft Certified Premium cable. I provided a link to the reddit page were users had good results.
I definitely appreciate everyones experiences, but we are starting to delve into the ridicules here maybe....so now we cant plug anything else into any of the other HDMI ports on our sets, or not in the ARC port? Look, do whatever works for everyone but I mean, this is getting stupid, Apple needs to recognize this is an issue with the ATV4K itself and not our TV's or the HDMI ports. I've had several conversations with Apple support about this and they seem dumbfounded about the issue, they just say change the cable to a next generation HDMI 2.0 cable ( which I'm using). I've tried not using a non-ARC port and still get the drops. I have a 2017 LG OLED that is capable of Dolby Vision so it would seem like the ATV4K would be a perfect fit. I'm just not convinced this is a problem with our sets. I can stream 4K video with the Amazon Fire with no issues as well as other devices. The ATV4K is the only one that drops the single.
I have only had improvements with the drop outs but there has been nothing that actually fixes the issue ( for me at least). The EchoGear cable greatly improved the issue but it did not solve it. Or if you want to spring for the Belkin that Apple is shilling for double the price go for it. But you'll still get the drop outs.... Eventually.
I agree there is something wrong with the ATV4K but in the meant time I don't want to hear my daughter saying the T.V. is black every 5 minutes.
Hopefully Apple figures out something soon or this this is going back to the store.
I’ve got a 2016 65” LG OLED... Same story with the blackouts while watching the AppleTV especially on Netflix. No issues with Directv or Xbox One X (though I don’t use the Xbox for anything aside from games). Switched cables, hdmi ports, etc. Tried switching it to Dolby Vision @ 30hz as a temp measure and that seems to have fixed it for me as well. I can live with it but would like to get the 60hz working (as we all paid for it in essence).
How many people with this problem have “Match Frame Rate” turned on? My Apple TV 4K was fine until a month ago or so when I started having the random drop outs due to loss of HDMI handshake. I have been using HDMI 2.0 cables from Costco but decided to get the suggested Echogear cable which mostly solved the problems but I still was having some weird issues where some video streams wouldn’t load, especially in the Vudu app where it would say my cable isn’t HDCP compliant. I finally turned off match Dynamic Range which didn’t do much but since I turned off Match Frame Rate everything has been working perfectly. I actually want to go back to my original cable next to see if it works as well.
I just got my 3' Monoprice Premium cable and it works a lot better than the generic one I was using before. I'm using a non-arc port.
But, it's not truly fixed. I turned on HDR 4K 60hz and it's still flickering. I had to change it to 4k SDR 50hz for the flickering/signal loss to stop. Just like everyone suggest this just seems like a work around and not a fix.
I also switched it from 4-2-0 to 4-2-2 and it was just a blank screen that looked like it had no signal.
I just wanted to add that with the MonoPrice premium cable I tried switching to 4k HDR 60HZ and was able to watch 4k Netflix show the "Fastest Car" for 3 hours without any signal loss.
I can check the other settings if anyone is interested. So hopefully the cable resolved the issue.
The problem is fixed by using the Echogear cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07622BBFX
If you want to stick with a cheap cable, the problem may be solved by restricting the video to 1080p, 30Hz.
The moral of the story is that you need a good cable for the Apple TV 4K to work.
Running it through a receiver is not a problem if you use the Echogear cables on both sides of the receiver.
HDR does not appear to be a problem even with a cheap cable.
Thanks for your comments, but as stated previously, the problem is just improved with the Echogear cable and not fixed completely. I still get drop outs with the echo gear cable, I still get drop outs when using a non ARC hdmi port. I still get drop outs when tinned lowwr resolutions. And what’s the point of ATV4K if you can only run 1080P at 30hz? Might as well just use the previous gen ATV for that.

Good point. For people who cannot afford the Echogear cable, they will be restricted to 1080p 30Hz, and should sell their Apple TV 4K and get an older model.
For people who can get their hands on the Echogear cable, my experience has been that this cable supports 4KHDR at 60Hz, with best available Audio. It does not seem to matter if you choose match frame rate or not. I am using a Onkyo TX-NR747 175-Watt 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver, with Echogear cables on both sides of the receiver, and a LG C7, using the HDMI1 input on the TV.
