iPhone X BMW Bluetooth

Bluetooth in iPhone X reboots iDrive during conversations in 2016 BMW 428 GC. Also sometimes it has problems finding audio playlists in iTunes. Checked with BMW dealership and they are aware of this and waiting for Apple to come up with a fix, on the other hand Apple seems to think that BMW is working on some fix?! Please advice! My iPhone 7plus worked seamlessly with my car! Regards

I have the same problem with my BMW X5 40e. My iPhone 7 plus worked perfect on CarPlay. When i got my iPhone X and tried to connect, it took several tries. Once i got it connected, half of the apps didn't function as good, sometimes my display didn't recognize touch. After 15mins my idrive kept rebooting with eventually resetting it automatically to factory settings and removing all my connected drive functions. I had to bring my car in at the dealership. They had to reinstall all idrive software and were unable to connect the new iPhone properly. They said that they had many customers with the same problem, all were iPhone 8 or X owners. All unable to get connected or work properly with CarPlay. BMW is aware of the situation but they say it its an Apple Problem.

Also have iPhone X and 2016 BMW 428i, phone worked for a bit with car then seemingly messed up Connected Drive. Now I can’t Bluetooth connect X to car system or my iPod, either. Was able to connect spouse’s iPhone 6 Plus. (Had no prior problems with my 7 Plus either.)

Service appointment tomorrow.

Hi,

I believe BMW should look at a firmware release.

iPhone X with iOS 11.1.2 have issues with my X5 2015 F15 model. The issue is the recent call list does not apppear on iDrive or Headup display. Unless you initiate the call whilst connected to the car. So you simply get a subset of the recent call. Very inconvenient.

Same phone connected to my VW Golf 2012 works just fine.

Elimination process tells me BMW has to look at this issue closely. I’ve checked for software updates from the BMW site, but nothing new to what I already updated a couple of years ago.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have the same problem here in BMW country (Germany). My Connected Drive system crashes/restarts quick after starting a phone call.

I drove to the local BMW dealer and asked for help but they didn't know about the problem and will have to do some research at the HQ in Munich.

Beste Grüße!

Yes for me it has.. so far today I had zero issues related to this problem. It is intermittent though so we will see how it responds tomorrow. I think it got resolved with the 3rd party app update they had. As we get pandora and Spotify start loading as the phone gets hooked up through usb. Imo

Hello, are you using the beta or has apple released the 11.2 update ?

Just to share with you in my case apart from the constant reboots with the iDrive in one of the reboots it reseted all my settings, disabled remote (mobile app) and the connected drive apps disappeared from iDrive. Real-time traffic is also gone and the navigation system has some really old-looking colors. I wonder how a phone can do this to a car ....

Strange on my side I cant see the recent call list, not counting the recent call list if calls I initiated in the car.

Before I used to see the recent call list of all calls made either on the car or through the phone.

Anyway I updated to iOS 11.2 so tomorrow I will see if I keep getting reboots on the iDrive.

Hi, you have described exactly what I experience with the recent call list. The entries that occur when not connected to the car does not appear on iDrive when connected to the car. This used to work with previous iPhone models.

For some reason I have not experienced iDrive rebooting issues.

Today, BMW acknowledged they were able to replicate the recent call list not being correct issue on iOS 11.1.2. I've informed them the issue persist on iOS 11.2 as well. They advised they will attempt to find a solution. In my view that would have to be a firmware update for the iDrive system.

O have been having issues with wireless control of my iPhone for some time now. About 2 years ago everything was good but then not sure if was related with iOS evolution o iDrive versions remote Bluetooth music and Spotify began sometimes not working as expected.

Right now I would say to update the iOS to 11.2 to solve potential issues with Bluetooth phone for iPhone X and 8 and then maybe questioning BMW why these apps and Bluetooth audio don’t work so good.

Hi, yes so far it’s working but not as fluid as it used to be with 7plus.. it takes a while to find a playlist on idrive. But everything else seems to function ok. As for call history I’m ok with just the new ones stored. Not a deal breaker for me.

Best of luck

On iPhone X, Bluetooth doesn't work with Siri in my 2017 650 ... contacts etc. are fine, but cannot use Siri in the car ... just remains in listening mode and nothing ever happens. Siri works fine once I disconnect the BMW's Bluetooth connection.

Yup, same here. iphone X having issues staying connected in 2018 X3 M40. Girlfriends iphone 7 worked perfectly. Guessing screen issue on iphone X not communicating properly with Screen on BMW. Just a guess. Probably an Apple problem, not a BMW Problem.
