Iphone X touchscreen is extremely sensitive.

Is anyone else having issues with their touchscreen being extremely sensitive? For example, my touchscreen will randomly act like its being touched when I’m no where close to the area being touched. I’ll try to open an app and another app will open up or my phone just starts going crazy like its swiping right or stupid things like that.

I know this is an older thread, but in case you’re still having trouble:

I dealt with this for a year!!!! Super annoying and couldn’t wait until it was time for a new phone. My daughter had the same issue. She took her screen protector off (one of the harder ones, not just a film that goes over), problem solved! So, I tried it, thinking there was no way that was it...problem solved! My phone hasn’t done this in 4 days! I was having trouble all day everyday. The phone would even call other people while I was on a call. I hated it! Anyway, apparently the screen protector was causing issues with the screen sensitivity. Hope this helps!

It is a very small % I agree but it does happen. Not everyone may have posted or replied but you can see 200-ish people selected the button that it happened to them too. 200 users is quite much already even if it is only a small % from all iPhoneX users.

My point is that Support wasn't saying they "don't believe in" the forum. What they were saying is that with such a very small number of people having this problem, it's likely that it is not an overall defect with the phone. Even if it were, in order to determine that, a lot of people are going to have to go through basic troubleshooting.

Also, given the other things I've seen that indicate a great many people don't understand how this forum works (far more people click their own posts as "Solved" than report a problem with the screen of their iPhone x!), I don't know how much credence I'd give to that 200 number. It might mean that many people have that issue. Or it might mean a lot of people mistook it for the "Like" button. But, it doesn't change anything. You still have to go through the process. Now that you've determined restoring it as new didn't help, contact Support again.

Hello,

I also have this problem. It just started yesterday. The screen navigates (opens apps, opens links, zooms in, zooms out) without any input. It will then also occasionally not allow me to enter input. I am in South Africa without an Apple Store and need access to my phone. Can I bring it to an authorized support center without breaking my AppleCare protection?

I have tried to change the 3D touch sensitivity and have even disabled it entirely without any success.

This is sort of absurd for a phone that is not yet four months old.

I have mine for less than a month as a mother’s day gift. Now, I don’t use it after it goes crazy for a full 24 hours. I couldn’t even send a valid message as it randomly types any character, goodluck with all return keys. 😡 I am back to the good ol’ phone.

Anyway, has anyone been successful with resolving the issue without replacing the screen? I have tried hard reset and even restore factory settings, but none worked!

Had mine checked at Apple Store in Sydney, they tried to diagnose but they do not see any problem. My husband showed them the videos I took where it behaves like crazy and told them lots of people are having the same problem as per the apple community posts. They said they do not believe in the forum. *** are they creating this community for? They told him to wipe it out, which I already did but the issue was still not resolved. I'd be happy to return the phone as it does not serve its purpose in my possession.

The fact that a very small percentage of people who own iPhone Xs have posted about this issue on this forum doesn't mean that it is some sort of defect with all iPhone Xs. I suspect that is what they meant.

This is a user-to-user technical support community. Apple created it so that users can ask questions and have them answered by other users. It has nothing to do with what Apple Support does.

You are a genius! This fault has been driving me crazy for weeks. I tried a full restoration of my iPhone X to no avail. My iPhone continued to be utterly unstable with all the random actions outlined above.

And then, I undertook your suggested reboot. Several hours and counting, and my device is now stable.

Your explanation is also logical.....an error in a recent update. Will keep you informed if this changes, but thank you! This illustrates the purpose of these forums.
