Iphone 7 IOS11.1.2 black screen - spinning wheel - lock screen issue

My iPhone7 with IOS 11.1.2 this morning suddenly started to show an error: every 30-40 seconds, my phone suddenly turns to a black screen (with spinning wheel) and about 10s later, the lock screen appears. In addition: if I open the clock app, it is completely black and does not function at all (after 10-20s, the same black-screen-spinning-wheel-lock-screen sequence starts again...)

googling this issue on the web learned that this might have to do with a date issue: when I manually reset the date of my iPhone to f.i. 1 day in the past (1-dec-2017) the phone behaves normal again. This is obviously not a 'fix': needless to say that wrong date does largely impact all kinds of app functionalities.

Last remark: my phone battery drains very quickly (I noticed this already in the last days, after upgrading to 11.1.2) and this morning, my phone also feels very warm (while not doing so much with it...).

I trust this is something that a lot of users experience - I would strongly recommend Apple to find the bug and fix fast - my phone is for a large part dysfunctional!

I manage to resolve the problem this way.

1. Upgrade to latest iOS version, but problem still there

2. Change date to 1 Dec, temporarily stop the problem

3. General > Reset > Reset all settings, no issues yet. Didn't use the Erase all content settings as it is more drastic.

4. Phone restarted. Change date to automatically again. No problems for 3 hours already. Believe this is the killer step.
