iTunes 12.7.2 CD Burning Issues

On my Windows 10 PC that hosts my primary iTunes music collection (70000+ songs) just completed the upgrade to the latest iTunes release (shows 12.7.2.58 as the version) via the Apple Software Update process.

After completing the upgrade I attempted to burn the playlists for 4 new classical albums (all MP3 downloads) to CD-R media. The CD burning process for all 4 albums failed with the following error message: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred. (0x80004005)".

In each instance the albums played without issue when listening to them via iTunes (and my computer speakers).

Thinking that this may be an issue with iTunes 12.7.2 I logged on to another computer with an iTunes instance that had not been upgraded (the iTunes version on the other PC is 12.7.1.14). I copied the MP3 files for all 4 albums to that iTunes instance and then created playlists for each album. Was able to burn the playlists for all 4 albums to CD media with NO errors.

I will also note that with iTunes 12.7.2.58 I was able to burn one playlist to CD successfully but the burning process was painfully slow (4-5 times slower than normal).

Based on these results it appears to me that iTunes 12.7.2 has some significant bugs/issues relating to burning playlists to CD media.

Rolling back to iTunes 12.7.1.14 may be easier than transferring your playlists into Windows Media Player.

Uninstall iTunes then download and install one of the following as appropriate:

An alternative suggestion is to limit the burn speed to something slower than you would normally use.

Reports suggest Apple are aware of the issue but there is no ETA for a new build.

I was trying to back -up burn a music podcast that runs 1:19:55 -guess itunes read this as over the 80 minute mark and I got the "this recording requires more than one CD ' pop up. Even checking "OK" to that notice -no burning started. I then right-clicked into the "Podcast Info " and then to "options". Changed the start and stop times to get the podcast under 80 minutes and it then recorded. This is an option for now but with longer backup's this is a problem. Should have waited for others to test drive the latest update before I launched it. Thanks for all your help

Been following this tread for awhile and have had many issues as mentioned by others. Just upgraded to the most recent I-Tunes yesterday and continue to have the following issues. Can burn RW (2 diff brands) and CD-R's from an old batch without problems. However I get errors with all other reputable brands (3 diff ones) of CD-R that I've tried. Uninstalled and am unable to go back to older version since playlists had been created under the new. Anyone else encounter this?

I have the exact same problem, can't burn cds since the latest update, I tried changing the format to MP3's and still does not work, I've wasted 12 cds so far

iTunes 12.7.2 CD Burning Issues

Same issue with me here -Win10 and earlier music backup's to CD -fine .Now since upgrade "error OX8004005" .It will only burn first song on play list ( on my longer Itunes Podcast-just first disc-then just repeats that music) .I'm printing labels ,wasting ink and having to toss cd's .This is getting expensive, time consuming and frustrating. Posting here in the hopes someone reads who can influence a fix. I want back up disks for the car to listen to my itunes PURCHASED and stored library over the holidays.
