High Sierra 10.13.2 cannot find my audio device

I'm using an external audio interface, "M-Audio Fast Track Pro", which was automatically recognized by the OS until now. After updating High Sierra to 10.13.2, which one of its improvements is about a best "compatibility with certain third-party USB audio devices", my iMac 27" Mid 2011 don't recognize the external audio interface at all!!!!

What the heck is going on? Is it a simple "bug", and I have to wait for a new update in order to use again my audio interface? Or is it simply considered an old device and no longer supported?

I've found a way to momentarily make possible the FastTrack Pro usage:

I've upgraded the OS just a week ago (it was El Capitan), downloading the High Sierra installer from the App Store, and the version was 10.13.1, then I've updated it to 10.13.2, obviously through the App Store.

Since I still have the macOS installer, I've tried to use it and the result is literally a "downdate" to 10.13.1!

Now M-Audio FastTrack Pro is working properly, but I have unchecked the automatic download and installation of updates in "System Preferences > App Store": I won't never update the OS from now on, until I will sure that this great audio interface is supported!

Do you know if it is possible to Install Sierra to a HD2 if High Sierra is already Installed on HD1? I have upgraded to High Sierra and my M-Audio Profire 610 is no longer recognized. I am at a loss as to how to solve this problem.

Glad Apple sorted it out! Actually slightly too late for me, got a new Focusrite Scarlett 6i6... £219. Great interface, but probably wouldn't have got it if I'd known. At least I can dig out the Fast Track Pro again and use it with my laptop or something... 🙂

Hi I upgraded to 10.13.4 Pro Tools still does not recognize MAudio Fast Track

When I go to System Preferences and highlight Fast Track, I see:

User uploaded file

The selected device has no output controls

I highlight / select both Fast Track in input and output, the ProTools SE does not recognize. Any ideas?

Saw you answer and the helpful screen shots. But your experience doesn't match mine 😟

I have just updated iMac to 10.13.6, but when I click on System Report I get a different on screen layout for audio units ...

And FastTrack Pro isn't working ... or at least although it is connected, it is not recognised as such:

Yes, the system report shows same info: it's just I was jealous of the nicer way it appears on your iMac than on mine.

Before finding your response I wasted time on the Avid site looking for info about drivers for a Fast Track Pro ...

extra thanks for explaining we don't need them!

(I feel I should say in passing that up to the first High Sierra version, we had no incompatibility problems.)

I am now about to try the uninstall manoeuvre you suggest.

(P.S. An extra complication might be that we [= my wife and I] have been using Garageband, because we're involved in music teaching in a middle school (where all the students have MacBooks with Garageband), so have deliberately chosen to confine ourselves to that level.)

Yes, you're right, the screenshot on the right is from Utilities > Audio MIDI Set up.

I'm really sorry, I thought it was pretty obvious but it isn't at all, I'm realizing it now!

I'm glad you finally understood the problem and managed to solve it, and so everything went well!

I have the same problem on a 2015 MacBook Air too. My FastTrack Pro was working on 10.13 and 10.13.1, but not in 10.13.2.
