Boot Camp "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" Loop

Hello. I'm not sure if this question has already been answered, but my MacBook Air is stuck in a windows installation loop, saying,

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation".

This, of course, leads to an endless loop.

The Shift+F10 trick seems to only work for Windows computers (I could be totally wrong), but that's the only solution the internet provides. I really need some help. Thanks in advance!

This is what shows up on my part when I press in the alt/option key. From here I'm able to get back to the mac, however when restarting the computer you end up trying to boot windows again. Should I just try uninstalling windows completely, or would it somehow be possible to make make things work?User uploaded file

Apple says this page is unavailable. What does this mean? Please help solve this, its been frustrating me for days!

You are unable to connect to the Apple Internet Recovery servers from your Mac. If you are using a wireless connection, please try a wired connection, if possible.

I am having absolutely no joy in installing Windows 10 on my 2013 high sierra macbook air. I have attempted about 20 fresh installs with bootcamp and multiple usb drives. Formatting and partioning every time.

It proceeds just fine through the installation until the getting ready point (pictured) at which time it just freezes up until that message appears and it just ends up in a boot loop with no completed installation.

I have tried the latest drivers and previous drivers overwriting the new ones on my usb drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...User uploaded file

I have:

-Moved the ISO download to a folder on desktop

-Removed the failed bootcamp windows partition with BCA

-Created a new boot usb 2.0 with BCA

-Disconnected from my wifi

-Ran the BCA windows install

It still froze in getting ready and then ended up booting to this screen which quickly reboots...

As a test, re-install the 128GB original SSD, and try to install Windows.

The 2015 SSD is unlikely to work correctly in a 2013 MBA.

The 2015 MBA - MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) - Technical Specifications - has a PCIe SSD. MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Teardown - iFixit shows a different PCIe 3.0 SSD compared to the 2013 model.

The 2013 MBA - MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) - Technical Specifications and MacBook Air 13" Mid 2013 Teardown - iFixit also show a PCIe model, but an older model.

Alt/Option works fine but I am not able to use WIndows because of the unexpected restart error. Mac is able to load, but bootcamp is unable to make windows work. The same ISO works on any other laptop why it doesn't work with bootcamp ? Bootcamp has some issue.

It’s a problem with the BootCamo drivers. I worked on this problem this week-end: the problem come from the AMD or/and the Intel drivers provided by Apple.

My « solution »: install win 10, but not the last Apple boot camp drivers!!!

By the way, you can install all the windows updates ...

If you have the loop boot problem, try to boot the computer on windows. After a few tries, you will see a « restoration » system. You have some options on the menu.

- boot on safe mode and uninstall the graphics drivers

- go back to a previous restoration point (if you had activated it previously)

- go back to a « fresh install »

It’s the only solutions I know, maybe others exists.

Hey,

Did you solve this problem eventually or did you give up on installing windows? I have the exact same problem and I still can't find the solution... I can't even try the "Shift+F10 trick" cause Touch Bar does not work in windows or at least when installing windows...

Im also having the same issue.. I was able to get through the whole process up until the ending of the windows installation. It says that "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation". My question is, how can I restart the installation? Whenever I click ok, it restarts the computer and boots back to Windows with the same message. Of course I can boot back to macOS but I cant do anything there to restart the windows installation?

I'm having the exact same problem, called Apple support and they weren't able to fix. They sent info to Apple Engineers so probably gonna get some news in a few days. I recommend calling and getting more info from them

I have tried 1607, 1703 and 1709 now multiple times - all result in the same frozen "Getting started" screen and eventually the "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error" loop as described in the opening post.

This is driving me mad!

I had a similar problem with Bootcamp. But I find a very simple solution for it. At the first steps of the Windows install process I choose Windows Home and not Windows X, wich I choose before. So try to choose not the first Windows version of the list, for me work Windows Home fine. The Windows install is complete. So im happy.

You need to use 1607 for a 2013 MBA, which has an Intel GPU and you must disconnect from the network (wired) physically and also not connect to any wireless networks, till your Windows installation is complete. You seem to be getting bad drivers from Windows Update ('forced').
