Sharing HomeKit problem - Apple ID is not registered with iCloud problem

On last Thursday we shared a HomeKit (host is my wife's iPad) to my wife's sister. From that moment, I lost connection with iPad - Home App on my iPhone was showing an error connecting to it. So, I removed my my account from guests, then her sister's. Now, my wife can't invite anyone - Home App is always telling that this Apple ID is not registered with iCloud.

I tried:

- to restart all devices

- log-out and log-in to iCloud on all devices

- reinstall Home App on all devices

- disable and enable contacts sync

- to send invitation from “guest” HomeKit to the “host” HomeKit - ironically same problem - Apple ID is not registered with iCloud

Nothing works. Now, only my wife can use HomeKit devices. What is going on or what am I doing wrong ?

I'm having the same issue... and so are many others. It seems this is related to the security bug found with HomeKit last week. Although there hasn't been a specific response from Apple regarding this specific issue... many have surmised that this is related. Apple has said that remote access for guests using HomeKit is disabled until the fix is released sometime this week. Hopefully that will restore the "unable to find iCloud ID" bug that many of us are also facing...

Stay tuned... it's annoying for sure. My wife cannot access any of our home devices right now.

For me it's not working. I have also installed the Elgato eve app and I could send an invitation to my wife. However she did not get any notification.

Other try: we have created a dummy home on my wife's phone and sent invitation to me, which worked. However I also did not get any notification. Both devices are on the latest iOS 11.2.1. So the issue still persists. 😟

I was having similar issues with sharing my "Home". once everyone was upgraded to the latest iOS, then i was able to share my home with others. Now that its shared though, no one can access the home remotely except for me (being the owner). Has anyone had this happen? I made sure all my aTVs are up to date, reset all of them, relogged into my iCloud id, and reset the iphones. No joy.

I have the same issue and long calls with Apple care didn’t help either. Waited for the latest iOS release, but that didn’t help as well. Found a work around that did the trick for me-

On the guests iPhone (whom you want to share access to your home) create a dummy home and ask him/ her to share access to that dummy home with you. Once you accept the request, try inviting him/ her again from your home app. The dummy home invite seems to refresh some iCloud Registration issue and you wouldn’t receive the ‘not registeted’ error.

Worked for me.

Ouch.

I tried the “reverse add” by going to my wife’s iPad and inviting me to her home, that did succeed, however, I couldn’t get her to see any of the new Phillips hue stuff.

I unInvited myself then deleted my default home which resulted in some fun research to get everything back.

I still got the error after all that mess, however, I tried my wife’s old me.com account and viola that worked. I believe the alternate email is the trick.

All set now.

IF YOU USE Phillips HUE, then that is likely the issue.

If you use Philips Hue, then send the invite from within the Hue app.

Go to Philips Hue app

- Settings

- Homekit & Siri

- Advanced

- Homes (maybe the name is different but it's the first one of the 2 options)

- select "my house" and click on Share Home and invite from here.

The invite is sent to whoever you wish. When they click on it Homekit opens (not Philips Hue) and after they approve, everything is will work on their phone.

Hope this helps!

Me too! And I was choosing them from members of my family list. Complete with the apple id they have had for many years.

until I typed in my son’s name in the to: field and it came up with two email accounts, with one in orange.

The orange one was the @icloud wheras the one we used to use was the @me.com.

and once I selected/updated contacts to @icloud.com it all worked perfectly.

Ok need someone else to try this as I just fixed mine. On the guest iPhone and iPad I deleted my Philips hue apps. I then attempted to invite myself from the host iPhone and it worked instantly. Now back up and running. Just about to reinstall the Philips hue app on the first phone and iPad and hopefully I don’t run into any problems
