I crated TOC for my document. However when I changed the page size to 6x9, the TOC got garbled. I deleted it, inserted again, updated several times, but to no avail. Please, help. It is important.

Rather than believe instead of examining and testing:
I then increase the right margin shrinking the space for the ToC:
Then I dragged the tab for the page number back inside the margin:

4 shots. As page number increases, it is 1, then 2, and finally 3. On every left-side page, starting around page 100.
Also, I changed the page size to Letter to see the ruler, and this is what it looks like:

I have 4.3 and am not sure, whether can do the selection you suggested. Cannot see that path. Does it mean that there is ToC item on the Pages' menu?
Take a screen snap (command shift 4 - drag over area) and post it here using the camera icon.
See if I can spot what it is.

That could be part of the Header. Probably there is a tab after the title but no tab in the header's ruler.
Click after the header title and delete forward.
