Hello! I am using 11.1 version of Apple Mail.
I want to add a giphy to my outgoing mail. I've looked at YOutube which shows a gif thing at the bottom of the apple mail pane, but MY mail pane doesn't include that.
So......how do I add a giphy to my mail?

Okay I figured out what you need to do.
1. Go to https://giphy.com/search/tom-jerry
2. Scroll down to the GIF you wanted. Right/control click on it and select "Save Image As…" name it something like "Tom&Jerry.gif", somewhere convenient.
Then just attach it to an email.

I do have one, smarty pants. And I have added it as an attachement. But, it shows as a static image. I've tried copying 1) the link - that doesn't work as it just posts the link in the email. 2) saving the image on my computer - again....doesn't save as an animation. Only a static image.
First you have to have one to add. Then you add it as an attachment.
Didn't mean to be a smarty pants. But you didn't ask when I attach a GIF to an email it doesn't animate.
I've never tried adding a GIF to an email, however, I just did and although while composing the GIF doesn't animate, once I sent it to myself it does. So near as I can tell, the recipient should see it animate.
I tried that. I sent it to myself...and it was a static image.
I right clicked on the image and all the save images as stuff pops up. I save it.....and it was just a static image. I clicked on save the link...and just the link address is added to the email....no gif.
What am I missing?
if it does not work then some people suggest that for security reasons some mail providers flatten the gif to a static

Once in awhile I've run into a GIF that won't animate in the Finder. I could check if you like.
I see. The GIF is not available to download. I suppose you may be embed the URL in an email but that I don't know how to do.
