There would appear to be a general issue burning from iTunes 12.7.2.x for Windows.
A workaround is to uninstall iTunes then download and install one of the following as appropriate:
I expect it will be fixed in the next release.

Thank you, this did the trick. After wasting far more than a dozen blank discs and several hours fretting over non issues (thought my lossless files might be the problem) this 10 minute fix got me burning a few presents for friends at work.
I've included direct links to the iTunes 12.7.1.14 installers in my posts on this topic such as the one quoted above. Use the blue links to iTunesSetup.exe or iTunes64Setup.exe. You'll be downloading directly from Apple's secure servers.

Holy Cow!!!! I can not thank you enough. I have been so frustrated and have tried everything with iTunes to burn for my spin cycle classes. You are a life saver! Perfectly worked the way you so clearly described!
I must have the latest version since i cant seem to burn cds. I tried the WMP way but the cd i have just purchased is not in my list of music. Everything else from itunes is there but not that one. Any idea on why? I dont really feel like reinstalling itunes.
Thanks
Windows Media Player may not read tracks in AAC format, which is what the iTunes Store sells. Rolling back to the 12.7.1.14 version of iTunes will take 5-10 minutes and keeps your library exactly the same. Some users have had success in 12.7.2.x setting the burn speed to 2x.

Ok - I rang Apple support there - now I wasn't having the problem (they weren't impressed) but apparently this is a known issue recently and they are investigating. They suggested burning an mp3 format or a data disc or using other programs and tt2's idea of reverting software they weren't keen on but said should work for most users with the issue. They also said make sure windows is up to date too.
Hi,
Yup I got same frustrating error & wasted heaps of discs.
So try using your “windows media player” instead, create a playlist, burn disc and you’re good to go as I also need discs for the car so I share you pain.
Good luck.
same problem, and like honeybadger619, burned through a ton of CD's. i found that IF I was able to make all the songs have the same data format (m4a) and the same encoder (iTunes XX) then iTunes WAS able to burn a CD. but when the songs had mixed data formats (mp3 and m4a), and encoders (LAME and iTunes XX) there was no joy. not sure if this is due to the data formats or the encoders, though assume the formats.
This Windows Media Player tip was extremely helpful. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
This saved me a bundle of time.
Surprisingly, it took only a couple minutes to download my music from ITunes to Media player using the info you provided and I was able to burn a CD very quickly.
I can't believe Apple has done this but oh well, they are the big boys I guess.
I am a musician in a cover band and have a machine that only plays CDs which can change the key and slow things down, making it very simple to learn a new song quickly....we are always adding new material.
After I buy my songs from ITunes, I always make a CD with a couple songs I am learning. Apple has now made that impossible, by not allowing CD burning. It would be nice if they would have at least told people. so they don't waste money trying to burn CDs. Very poor customer relations.
Thanks Again for the info
While reluctant to uninstall iTunes and install earlier version, after trying other suggestions and trashing CDs, I gave it a try and now everything seems just fine and I can now go back to burning CDs for listening on my commute. Thank!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I ruined 5 CD's trying to burn a disc through iTunes. You think these guys would tell you this stuff so you didn't have to waste so much time screwing around and ruining discs. Progress, I guess. Yea Rignt!!! Anyway, followed your 4 steps and it worked like a charm. Thank you again.
Just encountered this problem with version 12.7.2.60 (haven't burnt a disc in a while) so I am pleased to read the new version corrects it. Funny thing is when I do Check for Updates it tells me "This version is the current version"! 😕
Thank you so much Apple!!! This issue with disc burning has been resolved. I just updated to 12.7.4.76 and I thought what the heck I will see if I can burn a Cd without getting an error code, or a really screwed up Cd. And it worked perfectly......I can't say thank you enough.
iTunes 12.7.3.46 for Windows has been released which appears to burn CDs normally.
It can be downloaded from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/.
