The current version of iTunes will not work with disc burning, don't bother trying. If you're on windows, do this instead.

1) Open Windows Media Player

2) In the top left bar select Organize -> Manage Libraries -> Music

3) Select "Add" on the right hand side to add your iTunes music files to Windows Media Player, the address should be something like this: C:\Users\Username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music

4) Your iTunes music should now show up in your Windows Media Player library, you can now use the Windows Media Player burn system which is very easy and works perfectly.

5) Make wonderful CD gifts for your family and friends and proceed to jam our to your favorite holiday tunes 😀

same problem, and like honeybadger619, burned through a ton of CD's. i found that IF I was able to make all the songs have the same data format (m4a) and the same encoder (iTunes XX) then iTunes WAS able to burn a CD. but when the songs had mixed data formats (mp3 and m4a), and encoders (LAME and iTunes XX) there was no joy. not sure if this is due to the data formats or the encoders, though assume the formats.
