Same issue here. Music player won’t go away after I’ve connected to Bluetooth headphones. Strangely, I use Pandora, but the music player for my music shows up, not Pandora. Stays on lock screen permanently even after app is closed out. Any fixes yet??
terryfromsalt lake city,
Is the music player running? The controls are present on the lock screen so that you can control music playback without unlocking the phone.
Try double tapping the Home button and scrolling to the Music player, then swipe up to shut it down.
Let us know if it helps.
Nope. And it’s not just the Apple Music player...it’s whatever I’ve listened to last (Pandora, etc). I’ve closed apps, restarted, etc. I think you touched on it, my phone thinks the music player is always running and never shuts it down.
It appears to be a bug from the most recent Apple update. To fix this issue, just soft reset your phone (aka power it down). Once you power it up again, the Music app no longer appears on the Home screen.
The update didn’t work for me. I’m now on 11.3.1 and still get the music notification on my lock screen after connecting to a Bluetooth item (my car). It never goes away even if I’m a mile away from the car.
Super annoying indeed!
I’ve tried removing all music from my iPhone music app.
I’ve opened the Music app then shut it down by double tapping home and swiping it away, then locked the phone and unlocked it, and it’s still there.
If I hit Play on the nag, it will download something from my cloud, and I can’t stop it unless I lock/unlock the phone and hit pause on my lock screen nag!?! The Music app is closed and doesn’t say its playing anything if I open it - I have to lock and unlock my phone to do that.
In my technical opinion, sumpum’s messed up.
I’ve been having the same issue. Close all apps. Still comes on my lock screen with no particular song. My friend who same thing was happening to had a grand idea. Just get rid of the Apple Music app completely. Sad part is, I have Apple Music. But it’s honestly become so annoying that I think I’ll switch to Spotify, get rid of the app, problem solved. Too bad on apple, I try to support them but they keep messing up. Spotify it is. He said he hasn’t had the problem since.
Thanks Evilyn!
That did the trick. I also had to power off and power on to get it off the lock screen after removing the app. Replaced it with the Pandora app in my case, and happy to get rid of that super annoying Apple Music app once and for all!
I have just received a suggestion from Apple support on Chat - Incongruously, they said it's an odd interaction between Music and the Pandora app that causes Music to appear on the Lock screen whenever Bluetooth is connected. They suggested disabling Background App Refresh might solve the issue temporarily, but deleting Pandora should stop it altogether 🙂
I'm trying with Pandora deleted from my phone, and I'll report back if it works... at least it's some acknowledgement that it's not coming from the car!
Success. At least for now.
I deleted Pandora from my phone and have not had the odd behavior since. The phone automatically connects to the BT in my car (VISEEO WMA3000b connected by its integrated Y cable) but Music does not auto launch, and does not appear on my lock screen unless it's actively playing. Yay!
I was getting tired of Pandora anyway, too much repetition. Going to try Spotify or iHeart or Radio.Com streaming and see how I like those.
To Confirm - Like a lot of people, my iPhone was launching Music, to the first cut in the library whenever it connected to a Bluetooth receiver, and would also appear on the Lock screen with no way to dismiss it. After weeks of scouring the forums, I finally dedicated some time to a support chat, where I was quickly escalated 3 levels to someone named Kashka. She suspected that it was an interaction with another music app, and suggested I delete Pandora. That did in fact resolve the symptoms. I'm going to try reinstalling Pandora to see if it comes back. She also mentioned disabling background app refresh as a possible solution, and I will try that as well.
Update: while on a trip, I reinstalled Pandora. I've since been home 2 days, have used both Pandora and Music on several Bluetooth devices since, and have not seen the auto-launch behavior again. I am now on IOS 11.3.1 (15E302). I believe Pandora is a newer version, but apparently the app is designed to hide that information.
For me, adjusting the Notifications did NOT work, what worked was removing and re-installing Pandora. No issues since then, it does not auto start anything until asked to do so by the Bluetooth linked device, and if I have Pandora open on my phone, it goes right back to the same song. Only shows in the lock screen when they're actively playing.
I’ve worked with consumer electronics companies for 20+ years and during all 20 of those years, turning the **** thing off and back on again resolves 90% of problems. It’s just the nature of the beast. 😂
I did that (deleted Apple Music app) about a week or 10 days ago. And now it is back, even with the app deleted. It shows the same thing on the lock screen but says “an app was trying to use a music player please reinstall.”
Why does music stay on the lock screen
