IMessage/Text Messages Out Of Order

I have been experiencing the same problem since I updated my phone a few months back. I have an iPhone 7 my friends all have different iPhones - and I’m the only one experiencing this problem. I called Apple support twice and they told me to wait for the next update. Next update came along and it did nothing. If anything it’s gotten worse! My timestamps on my iMessages are up to 2 mins ahead of time. I am so sick of it. In addition to this some of my message notifications say [received] ‘in 1 min’ or ‘in 2 mins’ instead of [received] ‘now’ or ‘2 mins ago’. I’m confused as to why it’s taken up to 4 months to fix this?

So what is the real fix???

Say I send an imessage, sometimes when some replies fast, their message comes in ABOVE my message! You guys see that too? It's usually when you are texting someone with fast replies, but it drives me nuts!

This NEVER happened on anything prior to IOS 11.

Also, convo's I have from over 2 years ago, show n ow preview text on them, and after you click on the message thread it vanishes when you hit the back botton. Does any have super old text threads to test this?

I have an ipad and iphone. Both synced but sometimes when I send a text msg from one or the other, it actually starts a new text thread to whomever I am texting at the time if I happen to switch devices in the middle of the conversation.

Just curious, what model phones are you using? Anyone using an 8 or x?

I’m on a 6s and suspect that Apple has decided its tIme for me to buy a new phone. I’ve got all kinds of problems. Skipping Bluetooth even when the phone sitting next to speaker, apps freezing, podcast app almost never works without restarting. No sound when texts come in sometimes. There is more too. I don’t trust them. Sad but true. I’ve lost my confidence in the company and am thinking or getting a droid and eventually a surface book. I don’t think they even remotely want to serve me, only to milk me. I could be wrong, and this could all just be the difficulties of such a complex machine, but the point is I’ve lost my trust in them. That’s really the point. I know they’ve been slowing down old devices for years, that’s been obvious to everyone, and it finally came out, but they still hardly admitted it and then said it was for our own good. I’m sure some of you will yell at me for posting this, but I can’t help how I feel.

Any new phones out there with this problem?

If you read all the answers above, most (80+%) have upgraded to 11.3. It doesn’t help. I have a iPhone 7 have tried every solution suggested, believe me! One might work for a day or two, then reverts back to cr#p. Same with the others.

I think the only times it's out of order is when you are sending/receiving tests super quickly back and forth. That means the other person needs to be replying almost instantly for it to happen. Right?

Sorry, I disagree, it happens if you reply within same minute, or ten minutes, or ten hours! But I agree, it is sooo annoying. And all my Apple friends agree, it’s enough to make us switch to a new Cell! Steve Jobs would never allow this!

However, I have tried them all and they don’t work for me, at least not permanently. They would work (for me) for a day or two before the issue would reappear.

This is not just on iPhone, it's also happening with the Messages app on my imac. I use that while I work, and now whenever I get messages on my phone it doesn't sync with the computer until like an hour later (they all just suddenly pop up at once) and the responses are out of order too so it's across devices.

There has been no permanent fix that I have found. New updates, trying all the "turning things on and off" and "rebooting". Nothing works for more than a day or so and then messages are out of sync again. This is my business phone. I can't afford to miss messages. If Apple doesn't fix this soon, I will seriously be looking at another brand when I replace my phone.

That’s the same thing I was thinking. Earlier they asked if it was iMessage or both kinds. Nobody I text regular answers me as fast as my Apple friends. So IDK if it’s jist iMessage or not.

iMessage will be in blue meaning iPhones was used to send msg. Green msgs means Android was usedto send you the text msg.
