IMessage/Text Messages Out Of Order

Ever Since I updated to iOS 11.2.1 my messages do not show in correct order Ive tried restart manually setting time and 24hr time. Nothing seems to fix this issue driving me nuts constantly missing text because overlooking. They are showing as if they were received before other messages. Common Apple your killing me how can I keep speaking so highly of you when lately you've been letting me down.

I just got off the phone with Advanced Support from Apple and Now have mine working.

If you go into Settings > General > Date & Time > Turn off Set Automatically for about 10-15 seconds and turn it back on.

I did this and have now tested it with a new message thread as well as an exiting message thread with two people that I have had the problem with and it is now working correctly.

The problem gotten worse over the last few days. It used to be that only once every few days a conversation would have reordered messages. Restarting Messages app would not only sort the messages in correct order but also keep problem from reappearing for a few days for that conversation. Now the messages are reordered a lot more frequently, several times a day at least, and restarting Messages app does absolutely nothing.

I am wondering what do all people who get reordered messages have in common. Despite all the posts here and all the views, I am guessing this problem only affects a small fraction of iPhone owners. So, we are all on different networks, in different locations, timezones, etc. I noticed that all the reordered messages happen on conversations that are running long, have months worth of messages with pictures, and links, etc. Did anybody ever had messages reordered in a short conversation that's maybe just a few messages or days?

The message issue is an iMessage problem, not a text message issue, so any texts that you receive via your phone carrier by SMS will be fine, it's only the ones that come as iMessages from Apple's servers. By disabling iMessage you won't receive any messages that are sent by other Apple users via iMessage until you sign back into iMessage yourself. They will still be sent to your other devices that are connected to iMessage, i.e. iPad and iMac.

The 10.13.3 update does nothing. Have it installed since 1/23 - been having the problem regardless of the patch.

This is clearly a far larger issue here because phones and the app on Mac have the exact same issue. Its fun to see a response come in messages BEFORE the one I just sent asking something.

Gotta love it when you see this type of high quality crap from Apple

Me: When did you say you want to meet?
Friend: 8:00pm, you?

Friend: Great see you at 8:15!

Me: I'm running a bit late, how's 8:15?

Me too. This is extremely annoying. Apple’s programming was great back in the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5s days, but recently it’s been nothing but glitches. Even autocorrect used to be better. Now Apple is more concerned about making me sign up for ApplePay and having my credit card information exposed by being stored one more place than it is with making its phones function well. Ever since the last update, my phone dies quickly, so something [useless] in the new programming is draining the battery. I will be switching to another type of smartphone shortly...

A version of this worked on my MacBook Pro... but slightly different problem. I had lost an entire thread that was still in tact on both my iPad and iPhone. I tried above fix, it's now back. Even quirkier, while the conversation was "lost" messages sent to another individual would show up in another thread - they were in an older group message together. I think it may have been triggered by my attempt to record a flight from PDT to EDT and messed with time zone settings. Won't do that again. This is messed up.

Also noted the out of order problem on iPad and iPhone. Wish me luck.
