IMessage/Text Messages Out Of Order

Ever Since I updated to iOS 11.2.1 my messages do not show in correct order Ive tried restart manually setting time and 24hr time. Nothing seems to fix this issue driving me nuts constantly missing text because overlooking. They are showing as if they were received before other messages. Common Apple your killing me how can I keep speaking so highly of you when lately you've been letting me down.

I just got off the phone with Advanced Support from Apple and Now have mine working.

If you go into Settings > General > Date & Time > Turn off Set Automatically for about 10-15 seconds and turn it back on.

I did this and have now tested it with a new message thread as well as an exiting message thread with two people that I have had the problem with and it is now working correctly.

Having the same problem too. Not sure if it started with 11.2 or 11.2.1. Force close Messages app helps temporarily only- prior message order is restored in the view, but new incoming messages are continuing to be displayed out of order. It seems like the symptom described by the other user - messages received within the same minute are mis-ordered? Please check into this asap, Apple. (IPhone 7 Plus)

I was experiencing this problem around the time you posted this question, but I never saw it at that time and couldn't find any help from googling the issue but I took it upon myself to do a complete restore of my phone when simply turning it off and on again wasn't fixing it. The restore seemed to have fixed issue for a week or so but now it's back.

Am having the same issue. I noticed it last week on a couple of iMessage threads and rebooted my phone and it straightened it out, but then last night I noticed it happening again. I tried rebooting my phone twice, the date and time suggestion, turning iMessages on and off, but still no joy. I am currently running 11.2 on an iPhone 6. The strange thing is my iPad (also running 11.2) and my iMac (running Mavericks) are both fine and the messages are in the correct order. Surely the messages are kept on the cloud, so shouldn't all devices sync?

Obviously I've missed the update for 11.2.2 and I see it's now at 11.2.5. Will this update solve the issue?

Thanks

Apple update 11.2.5 has not fixed the issue of my texts appearing out of order. In fact today I saw one text very breifly then it disappeared. Who knows where it went. I confirmed with the sender and she said it was sent. We were having long conversation so maybe it’s somewhere in this long list of texts. Normally, it’s just moved one or two texts above for me. This issue is a big pain in the butt. Apple please fix it. This latest update did not fix the issue.

Things can’t be all bad.. you had time to come on this thread of users with a legitimate issue that the manufacturer claimed was already fixed and some how equate it with hardships in your own life. Some of us depend on our devices for work and business. Clients don’t love when they think you’re ignoring them because their message appeared 3 rows up and off the screen. Supervisors like it even less. There are probably hundreds of forums on the internet where you can speak with people when you need some support with struggles and other negatives in your life. We are here trying to get the devices and services that we’ve paid handsomely for to function as intended.

Takes two to Tango?

Having read all 10 pages on this thread, and a couple of others, it's not clear to me that fixing ONE phone is always going to solve one's problem.

Sure, that was MY experience, but I have few iMessage users in my rather limited contact set. If none of their phones happen to be affected, then fixing MY phone, solves MY problem.

However, if there were other affected users that were messaging me, should I really expect that updating MY phone should solve THEIR issue?

Might I then expect iMessages coming from their phones to be mis-threaded when they hit my phone?

just spit balling...

You're right, things can't be all bad because it's all about perspective and I look at problems in life as a challenge, as a chance to grow as a person. You may have paid "handsomely" for these devices, but that was a personal choice and entitles you to nothing. I don't have this issue because I spent my money on an Android phone that works much better for me. I'm just on here because I work in IT and part of my job is supporting iOS devices and I like to be in the know about their problems.
