Change username of Apple Support Communities

Hi,

I want to change my username "6547890jhkg" that i use for the Apple Support Communities. I dont know how i got this username but i was in hurry and i wanted to read something on the Apple Support Communities. So at some point i was confronted with a screen where i had to type a username in and i typed random characters on my keyboard. Is it possible to change the username? I heard that it is possible but only moderators can change the username.

P.S.: I dont want to change my Apple ID, i just want to change my strange username which is right now "6547890jhkg"...

Thanks in advance

George

Same issue here. Somehow I got this weird random string of letters, I can only imagine that at some point I must have keysmashed in a hurry to look at a post. If someone could get me in touch with the mods, I would be very grateful 🙂

Unfortunately you cannot have that name as it is already taken by Tai le, even though they don't seem to be active. I will ask the hosts to reach out to you. You might want so research alternatives by adding the name you want onto the URL https://discussions.apple.com/people/ use + instead of space. You'll either hit an active profile or a "Looking for something in Apple Support Communities?" message in which case that name is free.

I am guessing that you are receiving notices of activity on the topic

Bootcamp "The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition" error.

choose the link above > then choose the dark gray [Following] button near the top right of the page so that it changes to a transparent [Follow] button

This will UNsubscribe you from the thread

FWIW, you will NOW be "following" THIS thread as well, so you may want to do a similar action on it too 😉

My Email aren't coming thru at all. Have no idea what's wrong. can anyone help?

You start by starting your own thread as your problem is unrelated to this thread. Be sure to explain what devices you're using, what version of the system software, what, if any, error messages you're seeing.

And by the way, I understand protecting the hosts from being contacted by anyone about anything, but isn't this a slightly insane system for fixing username problems?

In the Apple Support Communities Terms of Use you will find the email address for the Hosts in § 1.13 along with language that would encompass someone having a problem with their username

@ChitlinsCC: A-ha! Thanks for that pointer. I must confess, I would not think to look in Terms of Use for such info, but maybe I should.

13. For questions or problems regarding your Apple Support Communities account, please post a question in the Using Apple Support Communities site, or email communityaccounts@apple.com

Perhaps this will let folks who find this discussion act a little more directly.

This thread (and others like it) OR starting one of your own is still the actual preferred way to get username changed

It is NOT supposed to be EASY

If you think about it, folks being able to change their usernames willy nilly at will would cause great confusion regarding who is who

Some folks are notorious and need an eye kept upon them by we user volunteers on the front lines

You apparently had a reading comprehension problem with the Terms of Use before you agreed to it. You should have got someone to help you with it. It is clearly stated that this is a user-to-user technical support site. There are Community Specialists here that respond to questions that have not been answered for 12 - 24 hours. But no one here is Apple management staff that makes the decisions of what features to change, remove, include etc. in iOS and the various Apple apps. If you want to complain about some feature that you used that has been changed or removed go here -> Feedback - iPhone - Apple you will not receive a response.

You have actually hijacked this thread, which has nothing to do with your complaint and is considered rude. And no, that was not a joke, millions of people here have received help with their technical problem. As far as whether iOS and the iPhone meets your needs that is up to you to determine. I don't care what you have used or what you decide is the best fit for you.
