Battery replacement refund?

I see that Apple has discounted the price of a battery replacement from $79 down to $29. I recently had the battery replaced in my iPhone 6 for $79. Would it be possible for me to get a $50 refund? Thanks.

I got my iPhone 6s battery replaced a few weeks ago and paid full price. I was just told today, after chatting with an apple rep, that only individuals who got their iPhone 6 (and newer) batteries replaced after December 14th, 2017 would be offered refunds. Unfortunately for me, I got mine replaced on December 11th. And, Apple isn't making any exceptions... I found it odd that the date they told me was exactly 3 days after I got the battery replaced, and they couldn't point to where this date was published (stated that it was internal only).

Yep, just got off the phone, and then the store, and the phone again with Apple, and because I had my battery replaced before Dec. 14, I am being left with a $79 charge. No refund for me, who had exactly the same problem as everyone else, just bad enough that I had to have the replacement done 2 weeks earlier.

Cool, Apple, that's really cool. Thanks.

Same situation here. iPhone 6s, got it replaced on 12/04/17 at Apple store after concluding it had problematic battery - paid the $79. Called Apple Support both before and after the official announcement regarding possible refund or partial refund.

Apparently, from what an Apple senior advisor told me, in my particular case Apple is not considering giving a refund. But for others, that could be different. Scouring the web shows me that some are able to get the refund, possibly if they had their replacement done after Dec. 14.

What a steaming crock. This is absolutely unacceptable.

I called Apple support yesterday and asked them why I should pay them $29.00 for a battery after they sabotage the battery on my 6+ phone.

Batteries die over time. Your battery was not sabotaged by Apple. In fact, the $29 is a great deal to replace a bad battery.

I gave them an option either send me the battery for free or lose me as a customer and they weren’t going to replace the battery for free. So they chose to lose me as a customer. I didn’t argue I just hung up.

We are owners/users just like you are and we really don't care. You should purchase whatever product meets your requirements.

Buy a Samsung. They have absolutely no problems whatever (unless, of course, you want to fly).

What do you think that the cutoff date should be? Perhaps January 1, 2016? Then, what would you say to those individuals that paid full price on December 27, 2015?

As of 4 Jan 2018, I was told by an Apple Genius guy at my local Apple store that he was instructed by HQ to--at the moment--provide the difference refund ($50) if the battery/replacement was purchased/done within the past 90 days. I replaced my battery about four months ago, so, at this time, I'm SOL! This could change, though. I will keep bugging Apple customer service until Apple's final policy decision is posted on Apple.com--as I was told it would be by multiple customer service staff.

Yup, you are right. And based on what others are saying, the Dec 14th cut-off date sounds more like what Apple would do, so I probably have gotten bad info from the Genius guy about the 90 days thing. All I care about is an official notice from Apple on their website. If it works to my favor, great; if not, meh.

I think that the problem is that Apple screwed up and they have too much to do to make up for it. Some things will take longer than others.

They slowed down the iPhone-6 (and later) units that exhibited weak battery symptoms. This was done to prevent unexpected system crashes. They actually did something good BUT screwed up in not telling customers what they were doing and, as a result, ended up with a lot of angry iPhone owners.

We replaced the battery on my wife's iPhone 6 on 10/1/17 for $79 plus tax (R249605894).. yes 3 months ago.. Apple made their decisions a long time ago to slow the phones.. long before 10/1/17.. After being caught they decreased the price to $29 for battery replacements in 2018.. I just spent 45 minute on the phone this afternoon with 3 different agents at Apple trying to get $50 back.. Agent #1 asked for my phone number in case we got disconnected.. Agent #2 reread screen shots and repeated Agent #1.. Agent #3 Tyler stated "my name is Tyler I will be the agent to finally resolve your issues" and the ~click~ disconnected from my landline.. 2 hours later and still no return phone call..

We made the decision on 10/1 to pay the $79 to replace the battery.. the 8 was out could have upgraded instantly.. the X was not.. wanted to wait until the X appeared before moving to the 8 or X.. $79 was pricey but what we needed to do to wait for the X.. All i was asking Apple for today was a $50 refund via gift card (they have $200B in cash in the bank BTW).. and click DISCONNECTED.. Thanks Apple for solid customer service, thanks for the call back, thanks for keeping my $50 (I guess you need it more than I do) and thanks for making my decision on a $1149 iPhone X vs $649 Google Pixel 2 that much easier..
