OK. I wasn't sure since I looked up Naperville and I guess it's a suburb of Chicago. 3 hours from there could be in many different directions which could even be further away from your location.

The Best Buy in Moline isn't an AASP. You can check which ones are by selecting the state (just 4 in all of Illinois):

The closest place near you would be some shop called Mainstream USA in Moline. They say they're currently swamped with a long wait for appointments.

Apple Battery Replacement Program Important Information
We are participating in the program. Response is overwhelming. We are currently scheduling appointments 4-5 weeks out. Don’t worry the program runs through the end of the year so we have plenty of time.
Please submit a battery replacement request for more information and scheduling of your iPhone battery replacement.

Apple's system is recommending this place as the next closest to your location, but I don't think they work on iPhones. I literally selected an iPhone for a battery replacement and entered your location. Maybe give them a call to double check? Their website says nothing about iPhones.

You're not in a location that has a lot of options nearby, although there is one. Good luck.

If you want to check what other options, this is how I did it:

  • Start here: https://support.apple.com/iphone/repair
  • Click on "Start your repair request" (blue button at the bottom).
  • Click on "Battery, Power & Charging".
  • Click on "Battery Replacement".
  • Then click on "Bring in for Repair". You have to select a carrier, but which one doesn't really matter.

I asked the support representative if there was a place in the Bismarck, ND area that was authorized to replace my iPhone 6 battery under the $29 replacement program.

He said the closest authorized repair center was 200 to 300 miles away.

Again, there are plenty of people that will replace my iPhone 6 battery in the Bismarck area.

My question is are these people authorized by apple.

I am in Bismarck, ND. I contacted apple support today and had my 3 year old iPhone 6 battery diagnosed. The support representative said the battery was in good condition.

I told the person I had a problem with the phone shutting off yesterday and I wanted to replace the battery under the current $29.00 battery replacement program. He told me the closest place to Bismarck was 200 to 300 miles away.

There is a Best Buy in Bismarck but the apple support representative did not mention that Best Buy was an Apple authorized Service Repair center.

There are plenty of people in Bismarck that will replace my battery, but is it an apple battery or is the battery sourced from another supplier.

A 4 day turn around is too long to be without a phone. I live in rural PA and the closest authorized Apple dealer is 70 miles away which makes it difficult to schedule an appointment without taking a day off from work. If Apple is truly making a good faith effort they need to authorize a secondary provider. Otherwise it’s pretty clearly they are really only interested in helping their urban and suburban customers.

This doesn't help you but the problem with that suggestion is managing the QC of the "secondary providers."

I wouldn't like it but I can handle it. Is there some way you can get one of these throwaway phones from 7-11 as a temporary replacement? You'd have to work with your carrier to forward your incoming calls to the throwaway. Yeah, it's ugly and it will cost you a few bucks but it'll keep your iPhone in spec.

Easy for me to talk like this. I live in NJ where there are no rural areas!
