Amazon winner pop ups on my iPhone

Eveytime I open my internet on my iPhone 6+ I get this amazon prize winner pop up. I have my phone set to block pop ups on internet, but they come through every single time. It’s annoying and there has to be a way to stop this. Everything was cleared & I made sure my pop up blocking was on. If anyone can help it would be great. Nothing like trying to look something up and having a pop up on your iPhone get in the way.

No one has figured out how to hijack your phone. Someone has hijacked a website you visited. Do the following:

  • Turn on Airplane Mode
  • Go to Settings/Safari and tap Clear History and Website Data
  • double-press the HOME button, find the Safari screen image and swipe it up to close the app
  • Restart your phone
  • Turn Airplane Mode off

This should clear the message. And don't go back to whatever website you were on the first time it happened.

Clearing browser data doesn’t work. Can’t believe Apple’s sitting on their butt while this exploit renders Safari less usable than Internet Explorer. Wake up FFS!

Can’t believe you’re sitting on you’re butt and not reading the other posts in this thread that explain why it happens and why it isn’t something that Apple can fix.

IDK I have tried everything possible. I don’t even have barely any apps on my phone. No Facebook, Twitter, Tapatalk etc. it’s completely ridiculous and Apple is pretty crappy for not finding a fix to it. Then someone told me to get google chrome and boom there it was. I disabled or enabled the java whatever I was told and sorry....if I wanted to view any news articles on that I would just use my laptop because it wasn’t letting me view videos on YouTube or anything. This problem is totally out of hand. All the money I paid for this phone should not have these issues. I mean Christ Apple even replaced the bad batteries they installed but at a discount price which wasn’t discounted at all. I’m done with apple. I’m a single mom, I don’t have money to blow on apple every 6 months because of their horrible phones. Every website I go on BOOM there it is. Oh and trust me I have tried every step on this website and none of it works. Just another gimmic for apple to make you spend money on their crap, overpriced phone.

I haven't been able to replicate anything unusual. My results going to weather.com on my three devices.

2010 Mac Pro - High Sierra with AdBlock Plus installed. All ads blocked. A popup appeared begging me to disable my ad blocker. Unlike many sites, it politely gave me the option to continue without disabling it. Popup went away and I was able to continue on throughout the site without seeing any ads.

iPhone 6s - AdGuard installed. All ads blocked. Only thing seen is the relevant material.

iPad 3 - Too old to even install any available ad blockers. Banner ad in the dark gray bar at the top, and a few down the right side. But no popup ads, or anything that redirects unless you tap on an ad, which is nothing more than the expected reaction.

It sounds though like you're talking about a separate App Store item for weather.com rather than going to the site in Safari. I didn't test that.

This is one of those types of infections that if it happens to you it happens to you but if you don’t see it it will never happen to you...

The only thing that I think could’ve possibly happened is that I went to a regular site and when I went to X out of one of those stupid ads that they have on the bottom of the page my fat finger clicked on the ad and somehow infected my phone ...

That doesn’t help at all. I cleared all history and data but it still popped up EVERYWHERE so I took it into the Apple store had them do it to be sure there wasn’t something I missed but it is still popping up I’m getting super sick of getting halfway through an article on a legit site and having to exit out and search for the article and HOPE I can make it through the article before it pops up again.

This is a joke. Apple screwed people over with the whole battery discharge issue that they gat caught with. They got busted with The whole push that people upgrade their phones when they really didn’t need them. And now people are dealing with this whole amazon pop up that annoys everyone. And then we have “Lawrence” acting like an apple represenative on numerous threads giving excuses for apple. Seems a little strange to me.

My comment originally came off defensive my phone made it look like your original comment was rude and directed at me so I’m sorry and my message has been adjusted accordingly EDITED: Due to the fact this is my FIRST smart phone (yes I was late on the smart phone train) I have no idea how to turn JavaScript off on my phone I didn’t even know that was on the phones. I have the pop up blocker activated on my phone if that is what you mean by an ad blocker. I know that Apple can’t block a website but I was hoping maybe this page would help me at least be able to check gmail without it popping up as the Apple store was unable to give me a good response. If you could inform me where JavaScript settings are in the iPhone 5 or what kind of ad blocker you use if it is anything other than the installed pop up blocker that would be helpful.
