iMac Pro restarting because of a problem?

iMac Pro intially booted as a Mac Pro backup, then reverted and reinstalled fresh High Sierra because of some compatibility issues, now getting forced restarts with this error code, thank you for any help!

How many ppl have Parallels that are experiencing this issue? I've had the software since version 7 (now with version 13) & I've had various issues resulting from wake/sleep. This seems to be another variation. I will test and update, if this isn't the issue I suspect Vega 64 graphics card to be the culprit. Right before the restart my windows (parallels gave me a corrupt graphics card error

I don't have parallels - It happened again today - was just getting started today - getting a strange feeling it has something to do with a connected iPhone... who knows tho - I have a second monitor that may (dell) be causing it (and some other peripherals).. I'm going to be contacting them after a vacation this weekend....

Hey Guys, I had nearly the same issues.

I called the Apple Care T2 Team (special team for technical fails). They made a big software test on my iMac Pro. Then they shipped my iMac Pro to Korg Ireland (Apple Europe Center) and Engineers watch my Mac.

Now I will get a complete new one in 2 Days. So you all should contact them, ask for T2 Team at Apple Care.

My Config: 8 Core 32GB-RAM 1TB-SSD Vega-64

My original Problems on a clean System

- Random restarts after long time of sleep

- high power consumption in sleep (60 Watts)

- long time to wake up 10-20 sec

Feb 28, 2018 11:36 AM in response to juliusfromwiehl

Had same experience and same problem with two replacement iMacs.

Problem occurs with nothing plugged in (i.e. no ThunderBolt) and even running in Safe Mode.

Definitely not a third party software problem (anything is possible but playing the odds here).

Heard a lot of people trying to turn off Power Nap or unplug devices and such without success but at best even those are workarounds and not how it SHOULD be working.

Currently waiting for Apple to issue a fix, hoping it's just software,

Same issue here. Brand new iMac Pro - nothing installed yet, only macOS, nothing connected, totally clean...48 hours old...but it's not restarting, it's just shutting down. Happened 4 times now; I leave the iMacPro on and when I come back later it's off. Jezez...do I have to return it (hassle!!! & I need this computer!) or should I hope that it is a software bug (the report says it's a bug...but who knows if hardware trigger that bug...in some way?)?

Thank you for info. I run the hardware diagnostics - no problems found. I really hope I can trust that...but I'm sceptic...my experience with e.g. RAM tests years ago make me sceptic (Apple RAM tests didn't find errors but the RAM's were corrupt when tested with other third party tools and replacing them solved problems).

I've also turned off this new iMacPro Secure Boot thing - time will tell if this helps.

And the dream dies, the Secure Boot fix didn't work, got this today...

Chrome? Me - and many here I suppose - is not using Chrome. :-) I have crashes with NOTHING installed exept macOS - and only LAN connected. I gave my machine back - getting new one next week.

Apple are having serious problems with this new design - the iMac Pro. Something is terrible wrong with this machine or the manufacturing of this machine.

Apr 11, 2018 7:18 AM in response to nickatnyte_

Same here...and I'm on my second iMacPro - the first one I returned and the new one have the same issue. And notice: I have this issue with ONLY macOS installed and running and NOTHING connected except electricity and LAN. It's TOTALLY "clean".

Some are on their THIRD iMacPro now with same issue, so I strongly suspect macOS/firmware bug. The only other theory is that Apple produce many, many, many hardware default iMacPro's - that there is some serious problem with the motherboard design and/or assembly line. This sounds less probably to me. But---IF most have NO problems like this with their new iMacPro, why do some have it...it's the same macOS!???

This is the most f'ed up situation I've ever had with a product from Apple. What to do? It's a serious issue (to have a computer that suddenly randomly restarts is very, very, very bad in most professional situations).

I will wait ONE week for a bug fix from Apple, if nothing comes I will return this iMacPro too and take money refund and forget about iMacPro for a year.

I have been dealing with this problem since late February with no solution in sight. This problem occurs with nothing connected to iMac Pro and even after the SSD was reformatted (APFS), system restored and updated to OS 10.13.4 and nothing else installed or migrated to the iMac Pro and no email services activated. My computer was thoroughly checked by authorised Apple Service Centre two weeks ago and passed all the tests thrown at it. However the problem persists with kernel panics occurring when the unit is in sleep mode. This problem is out-of-box problem with many (if not all) iMac Pros affected. There is some evidence that attempts were made to address the issue in OS 10.13.4. (Eg. Bridge OS 2.0.1 (15P2542) was upgraded to Bridge OS 2.3 (15P3169) in OS 10.13.4.)

In OS 10.13.3: {"caused_by":"macos","macos_system_state":"running","bug_type":"210","os_versio n":"Bridge OS 2.0.1 (15P2542)","timestamp":"2018-03-28 00:33:46.63 +0000" …

In OS 10.13.4: {"caused_by":"macos","macos_system_state":"running","bug_type":"210","os_versio n":"Bridge OS 2.3 (15P3169)","timestamp":"2018-04-05 12:51:01.05 +0000" …

After over a month of sheer frustration and several sessions with Apple Support senior advisors I returned the computer for full refund. I may reconsider buying iMac Pro after the problem is fixed.

Hardware test never show any problems. I'm confused that Apple have problem to fix this issue. Very strange. Don't they really understand their new iMacPro mother board design? :-D I believe it's not harware anyway, it's something in macOS that don't play clean with this new mother board. I put my money on firmware & hope for a specific update for iMac Pro soon, probably a strange firmware update with many restarts meanwhile updating. :-)

I'm i a better mood today & give Apple 2 weeks for this, if not I return the macine and say goodbuy to iMacPro for this time.

Just wanted to add to the list really - same issue. Brand new base model iMac Pro, less than a week old. Took maybe three days to install all my Adobe CC software, video editing apps, Logic Pro etc etc (including creating templates for various bits of work). Long & short - lots of installs, reboots, full overnight shutdowns before I had it up and running and started to use 'sleep'. Seeing the same panic crashes as everyone else, even with nothing running before putting the thing to sleep.

I do have a LaCie D2 plugged in, using a thunderbolt 3 adapter (Apple branded). What I've also seen is that the LaCie is repeatedly spinning up during sleep (whereas with my old iMac 2012, it would stay asleep with the Mac). It knows the iMac is sleeping, so does its own power down cycle, and the blue light goes off. In less than 5 seconds, it gets woken by what can only be some activity on the thunderbolt port, and it spins back up again ... then goes straight back into its power off cycle. Once off, 5 seconds pass, then it's back on again ... and so on, and so on.

So I'm not only bothered about an almost £5,000 new computer that constantly crashes in sleep, but also my main external drive which is being spun up and down in an endless cycle during sleep too.

I'm having to power down every time now; this pains me, as this thing is a workstation-class bit of hardware that should be good to leave on (rendering animation for example) for long periods without worry of any issues. I want to be excited by having got one of there expensive new Pro models, but I'm disappointed within the first week.

Not good form, Apple ...

Apr 21, 2018 10:05 AM in response to nickatnyte_

Add me to the list. The crashes happen constantly for me--pretty much every time the system sleeps, perhaps 8 times yesterday. I tried unplugging everything and reinstalling the os in place to no avail. Reading this list, it seems that no-one has successfully "cured" the issue.

It's discouraging that @Jorgen says they have the same issue with their 2nd iMac Pro and nothing installed! That implies that this is a fairly common problem. Anyone had luck getting through to a team at Apple that knows anything?

Apr 21, 2018 4:00 PM in response to dave_rosenthal

I'm on my third computer - same problem.

FWIW, I've had feedback from Apple support, they say that I've got 4 Multi Stream Technology (MST) displays plugged in, but it only supports 2 MST, or 4 Single Stream (SST).

This is news to me, and something to follow up with Dell (they said it was SST).

However, I still get the same rebooting problem with two displays plugged in (contrary to the Apple tech engineers prediction). When I sent off the logs to the engineering team they said, good news - it didn't kernel panic! What a stupid statement though - I don't care what you call it, it reboots for no reason - maybe explain why it rebooted than fixating on whether it kernel paniced or not.

I must say, I'm very frustrated in dealing with Apple. The service reps I'm speaking to are really friendly, but there's a firewall between me and the engineering team, and I feel as though the message of what I've tried isn't being communicated to them properly (probably not reading through the call logs from the reps).

They're aware of this thread, but each feedback I get it's like I'm the only one experiencing the problem. I worry there's just not enough units of the iMac out there for them to worry too much about. They've got loads of reports, but no one seems to be following up.

If this continues I think I'll have to return the computer and wait for newer models...

iMac Pro restarting because of a problem?
