High Sierra 10.13.3 Update error

I have a new iMac Pro and have installed a macOS update already. With the latest 10.13.3, I get the error as it is calculating the time too download: (602) and it appears that the download isn't taking place. I have a wired network connection and I have also tried wirelessly. No go. Any ideas?

BTW, on the same router, the download works fine on a MacBook!

iMac Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3), null

Yeehahhhhhhh!

I think I found a way around this. There is a special Apple page where you can download the update directly:

https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1952?locale=en_US

It worked!

Looking at 602 errors in Apple knowledge bases, it may be due to 32-bit apps and I am wondering if my external Western Digital disk subsystem apps (I have their USB-C drives for Time Machine backups) or AVG anti virus is causing issues?

I am having the exact same issue. I even tried to download the update directly (not through the App store) and it wouldn't finish downloading, so I downloaded the file to a different Mac and copied it to the iMac Pro but still get the same error (602). Called Apple Support and we ran a hardware diagnostic check which was ok. Ran disk utility, which said everything was fine. Support said it was a hardware issue and it should bring it in for repair, but I have my suspicions that that is not the answer.

I also don't agree that hardware is the issue. Just a week or so ago, High Sierra 10.13.2 installed no issue. I cleaned out spare files and rebooted. No dice. Perhaps there is a login startup apps that should be removed but on a similar community note, the suggestion was to install using safe mode (hold Shift while booting). I will try that tonight.

The 602 issue that I have is at the very beginning when the download time is being calculated. Is that the same for you? In fact, it doesn't even try to download. So, I can't imagine that Apple's download mechanism performs some sort of hardware check.

I updated a MacBook Retina 12 AND a MacBook Pro 13 with 10.13.3 and both worked. So, I am wondering if the speed of the iMac Pro's processor and the time-to-download calculation has a problem?

No, I have not updated. I saw there was another update, but looked here before I selected to update. I have the same configuration: 10 core, Radeon Pro Vega 64, 64 ram and 2TB drive. After OldFatDog said Apple told him it was a hardware issue, I thought I'D see what iMac Pro you guys had and see if anyone had a successful update with the same configuration.

That sounds great, REHCTELF. There's hope but I'm wondering if there is a certain base configuration causing this immediate error 602. Mark P, can you try it? I have tried with wireless and with Ethernet. I just tried safe mode, too. No go. As soon as the download calculates the time to download, bam! Error 602. Never seen this before on any Mac.

I believe I was notified of the update automatically yesterday. I told my iMac Pro to go ahead and update. I received a message about the update needing to download. I continued to work on my computer despite the minimal remaining Internet bandwidth. I then believe the computer automatically rebooted and all was well.

That's great! Unfortunately, I already tried that (had to download it to a different computer because my iMac Pro wouldn't complete the download) but it didn't work for me. I got the same 602 error code. I also have WD security apps on my computer for mounting their USB 3.0 drives with password protection. DId you remove that software before updating successfully? Maybe I should try that. I don't currently have anti virus software installed. Apple support is not proving helpful.

Hi all,

I've got the same problem and even after the suggested work-around of 'Softwaremaniac' it won't work. My system says that the update won't work on my iMac.. It's from late 2009 and runs smoothly on 13.10.2. The only problem it has that it crashes when i alter a filename on a external Windows Server 2012 in Raid5. Finder wil crash after i changed a filename and only a reboot of iMac will fix it. I've got a Macbook Pro which had the same problem in 10.13.2, but it seems to be fixed in 10.13.3. That's why i am rather keen to upgrade my iMac from 10.13.2 to 10.13.3. too...

Any suggestions anybody? I would really appreciate it.

William

This is what finally worked for me: make sure your Network settings do not use any proxy servers. Go to System Preferences > Network

Highlight the network connection that is active then choose Advanced

Then look under the Proxies tab make sure that nothing is checked (including the Automatic Proxies Configuation)

Somehow proxy settings interfere with this update.

Hi, I have an IMac running 10.12.5 with base installation but additional Java versions and also a MacBook Pro running 10.12.4 , also basic installation and additional Java versions. Both have external USB drives for TimeMachine.

I did a full backup to Time Machine before installing 10.13.3.

The installation on IMac was to download from App Store and then install as separate activities, worked almost perfectly, only issue being that it lost my email account passwords.

The installation on MacBook Pro did the download and install as one operation, again perfect.

A point to note is that I did not include signing into ICloud during the installation as in the past I found this hammers the internet data usage.
