Why are text messages disappearing
When I turn my phone off then turn it on later there is a text message on the lock screen but when I unlock the phone it is gone
Mine was already on persistent. Apple needs to address this problem ASAP!

what you saw on lock screen is just a notification. the message is in the messages app.

Mine is iPhone6+ OS 11.4.1. Same issue as you (and others).
Have also submitted bug report to Apple.
Mine was already on persistant so it probably will not help. I wish they
would fix this problem. I also submitted a bug report. Good luck!
