You can still go to an Apple store or Authorised Apple re-seller, where it will be done on the spot. But you need to make an appointment and that is not easy at the moment.
If you have no Apple outlet near you you have no option but to use the box.

If you have another phone use SIMCARD in other phone.
My iPhone took 4 days.
Apple do not send another iPhone for battery replacement.
